Re: The List, The Score, Fame Lists

This picture should knock that one off the list. Taken at the Screening Room, Singapore on 3 August.

And I can almost do Item 47 - airline menu with new potato on it. The photo would be new, but the menu is a few years old.

I was really hoping to find that one eventually, but whenever I look in supermarkets they aren’t listed as Maraschino cherries, so I never buy.

Find! (item 23)

This picture should knock that one off the list. Taken at the Screening Room, Singapore on 3 August.

That find is fine! That brings up your 2nd find dajop; the first time in a while that a find registers more than 1 point on the score.

Week 10 has started!

Within week 10, we've already had two more finds, so no more risk of purging this week. These finds will not be reflected in post #3 until next week.

With the two finds already this week, the game currently stands with only 3 items left to be found, which are:
  • 9. An Aeroflot aircraft (a real one, not a model)
  • 47. Airline menu showing a dish that contains new potatoes
  • 48. A FID showing a flight going to HND (it is acceptable to have the FID just saying "Tokyo" if you can justify that the flight shown is scheduled to go to HND)

Week 11 has started!

A new fortnight has started, so another 4 points off the score for attrition, which unfortunately reverses the good done by the 2 finds last week. The find cap has been raised; it is now 8 finds per member.

As stated in the last post, there are only 3 items left to be found, namely:

Three fairly tough finds, if I should say so myself.

"New potatoes" ? As opposed to ....... old potatoes ?

NM had a link somewhere earlier in the thread, otherwise I refer you to Wikipedia:
Immature potatoes may be sold as "New Potatoes" and are particularly valued for taste. These are often harvested by the home gardener or farmer by "grabbling", i.e. pulling out the young tubers by hand while leaving the plant in place.

My dad was meant to be flying aeroflot yesterday to Paris but his client decided to send him with miat (?) instead - can't imagine why  So there was my slim chance gone (though probably doesn't count if I don't take the picture)

Week 12 has started!

No one found any items last week. Therefore, in accordance with the rules, the following randomly selected item has been removed from the list and moved to purgatory:

48. A FID showing a flight going to HND (it is acceptable to have the FID just saying "Tokyo" if you can justify that the flight shown is scheduled to go to HND)

In addition, 10 points have been deducted from the score.

That leaves only 2 items left to be found.

Next week marks the start of a new fortnight. This means that the cap will be raised to 9 items per member, but another attrition penalty will be applied.

It looks like it might die off from here. I doubt my TT flight on DJ will have new potatoes on board, or that I’ll see an Aeroflot at SYD/ZQN, but there we go.

I'll have a scout around for Aeroflot when I arrive in FRA on Friday morning.

You could also check for new potatoes on your menus in SQ premium.

It's another of those "premium food embellishments" that the marketeers like to throw in on the menu, viz. "new potatoes", "vine-ripened tomatoes", "hand-crafted chocolates", "wild mushrooms", "fragrant rice" etc. etc.

Looks like that New Potatoes menu we saw in Queenstown; we should have tried to pass it off as an onboard menu item.

Where does Aeroflot fly to in Asia, quick search reveals the following.

SU 576 Flies Tokyo to Moscow, Departs 12:00pm
SU 596 Flies Hong Kong to Moscow, Departs 10:55am
SU 528 Flies Shanghai to Moscow, Departs 11:40am

Yep, hopefully between business and first class there should be something :p

If it does die off from here, it'll be done within 2 weeks, so not too long.

I guess I should start putting together the next Scavenger Hunt list.

(To all you pundits that want to get finding, I'm not posting the new list at least until the old one is completely accounted for.)

Too bad the item wasn't caviar, otherwise that would not be difficult to find at all. :) Which is funny considering how expensive caviar is compared to a potato :p :D

I think a short break would be good after the contest before the next hunt, so don’t worry too much about getting another hunt underway so quickly :)

Week #12: Nothing has been found yet!

This is just a reminder to everyone that not a single item has been found for Week 12 as of yet.

If no item in the remaining 2 is found before the end of Sunday 05 September, then a random item of the 2 remaining will be purged from the list. The score will also be reduced by 10 points.

The two items remaining are:
  • 9. An Aeroflot aircraft (a real one, not a model)
  • 47. Airline menu showing a dish that contains new potatoes

New members to the game are of course welcome to submit a find!

Also to Bangkok several days a week, early morning arrivals/departures

I saw an Aeroflot aircraft at FRA but it was at a standoff gate, and I couldn't get a shot from the plane as we went past, so no luck on that one..
