The AFF Scavenger Hunt II [*NOW ENDED*]

Week 13 has started!

Post #3 will be updated; changes have been sent to Mods.

No one found any items last week. Therefore, in accordance with the rules, the following randomly selected item has been removed from the list and moved to purgatory:

47. Airline menu showing a dish that contains new potatoes

In addition, 10 points have been deducted from the score.

Last week also marked the end of a fortnight, so time attrition penalty was applied.

There is now only 1 item left to be found, namely:

9. An Aeroflot aircraft (a real one, not a model)

This means that this is the last week of the game; i.e. there are only two ways that this game can end:
  • Item #9 is found, score is increased, game ends; OR
  • Item #9 is not found by end Sunday 12/09/2010, the item is purged, 10 points deducted, game ends.

There will be a final post #3 update next week to reflect the final result of the scavenger hunt, then there will be the usual blah blah statistics and post-game discussion.

I guess the game ended, and we all forgot it was here. We started well, but those last few items really were tricky!

End of Game

Yeah, sorry for not attending to this.

I did create the final update for post #3 and emailed it to a mod for updating, but I think the mod I chose is on leave at the moment for any given reason, hence it hasn't been updated yet (yet = 19/09/2010 0958h).

The game is over; the last remaining item:
9. An Aeroflot aircraft (a real one, not a model)
...was not found, hence purged and 10 points deducted accordingly, giving a final score of 162 points.

This means that 46 items were found out of the original 50. At 14 participating members across the entire game, that gives approximately 3.29 items found per participating member.

So thank you everyone for playing The AFF Scavenger Hunt II. For those of you who observed and didn't participate in finding, hope to see you join in next time (which hopefully might be quite soon.... we'll see). Also, a very special thanks to the AFF moderators - Lindsay Wilson and serfty - who helped in keeping the information post (#3) up to date each week. In fact, post #3 became so large I hit the character limit for PMs after a few weeks, so I had to use email to send them the new post so they could update it! So very special thanks to them for that.

So.... that's all folks!

And thank you Anat01 for organising it. It certainly made my travel slightly more interesting.

And with the winning prize being a 1st class RTW ticket provided by Qantas (with $20,000 spending money), I'm even happier!

Whilst I haven't participated in either of the two that have happened already, here's hoping the IIIrd is soon as I have a monster 3 months of travel coming up. Would be good to contribute:)

Looks like I ended up tied 3rd, thanks to Anat0l for your work in putting the competition together, I guess you needed to be traveling in the right time period.
