The COVID-19 vaccine rollout in Australia has begun

Son in UK having Pfizer tonight. He's 31. He's one of those fainting kind of people, has been since he was four. He ha his second one more than three weeks later, I think 8 weeks time?

I honestly didn't feel a thing...that is one narrow gauge needle! On Pfizer in the UK...I noticed on Facebook the other day that a friend of friend who is furloughed cabin crew on BA is now administering Pfizer jabs at Twickenham Stadium! I asked if he was a nurse or similar in the past but apparently not...I was told that as the cabin crew have 'health & safety' training they're good candidates for this!

I am (was) in group 1B - I've had 1 shot. I booked it through an app on the web at a local GP clinic (not my normal GP). The app they used (Hot Doc) would not let you book the 2nd shot until you had concluded the appointment block assigned to your first shot. Seemed silly to me at the time, but I was happy to be booking them regardless of the inefficiency. Being the eager vaccinator that I am, as soon as I was back home I booked shot #2 so I don't have to deal with the rush of people now trying to book. That being said, I was vaccinated with AZ and #2 will be AZ - I'm sticking with it and looking forward to being fully vaccinated.

Sure. But he has a needle thing! It will be over and done with so quickly but the anxiety will be in all the prep stuff. His partner is going with him and he will lie down to have it.

This is good news

No more stupid state borders for fully vaccinated people (from Nat Cabinet)

----

  • The government is working on a vaccination certification that would be available in July and will allow freer movement if states closed their borders.

Good news for those who have been allowed to get vaccinated. Still waiting for more age groups to be opened up. I want to travel in July, but haven't been able to even get the first jab yet.

The government needs to link states qualifying for funding during any lockdown to allowing vaccinated people to travel. So if WA doesn't allow vaccinated people to travel there if there's a lockdown in Vic in July then WA shouldn't be given financial support if they subsequently do a lockdown from the Feds.

Vaccination stakes update. With a fantastic week of vaccinations we have managed to inch up from 80 to 79 and fend off challenges from Equitorial Guinea, Cuba and Samoa. South Korea is coming up fast though and Jordan has got a fair gap now. However we have overtaken Kazakhstan again and are closing the gap with Russia.

Daughter in ACT (early 40's) had her first Pfizer jab today. Second scheduled for 3 weeks time.

Just a regular citizen.
Apparently 5,400 people phoned to book on Thursday - can’t say Canberrans aren’t eager to be vaccinated….

We really need QLD to start firing on all cylinders, the apathy up here is really scary - not helped by the fact our CHO is hardly driving it and not leading by example - which is inexcusable.

NSW really should be driving more as well given their population base and all their mass centres open now.

If QLD and NSW really lifted we would have our big 3 states all firing though big numbers and it would make a big material difference.

(Yes I know WA isn’t doing well, per usual but they have an immaterial population, for statistic purposes)

A lot of people who need/like to travel picked up on the news that they are planning that fully vaccinated people will be exempt from state border closures.

Everyone is chattering about that at work, especially in our Sydney team - because they are well and truly sick of being locked out of other states, especially QLD ;)

We should hit 5 million vaccinations today or at worst tomorrow. Long way to go, but at least it feels like it’s moving.

And why it is so important to vaccinate children including very young children when it is approved- I hope the government here is being proactive in considering safe vaccines for children (I know, hoping in vain re: proactive).
