The COVID-19 vaccine rollout in Australia has begun

Apparently of this week's 1m Pfizer, 80% are heading to NSW.
I am not sure if there is some misleading commentary on this.

There were 3 flights arrived...and the one into SYD had 800k does.

But are those for NSW just because that's where those ones landed...or will they be further distributed?

Also I don't see these extra pfizer doses coming on board changing much in terms of excelling the %'s. I mean anybody that wants a jab now can get one, can't they? can easily book within a month in advance at the longest. Am I not correct?
I just had a look at the Olympic Park vax centre this morning.
Next available appointment (Pfizer) is end of September!

Definitely misleading.
SYD has the best storage facilities and is the best transport hub. The vaccine will be distributed to other states from there

Considering the conditions Pfizer needs to be kept in it would be logistically simplest to keep it to a small number of flights into the country. Batch testing also needs to be done to verify that the vaccines are in an acceptable condition.

The numbers are looking good for 70+ and should continue to improve. The 2nd dose numbers for below 70 are still very low, though 40-49 is making the best progress on 2nd doses of under 70s presumably because most of those got Pfizer.

I just spoke to a work colleague whose family is in Malaysia. Everyone there registers their interest in the vaccine and then is texted a time slot for their vaccination. I don't get why things here, in a wealthy country, are so difficult.

Hold on a minute, the Federal Govt will get back to you after they've called an inquiry once they've received back the recommendations for its scope from several different consultants. Should have your answer before Christmas....

You really are spouting rubbish now. ;)

There's no way they would ever call an inquiry. They would however make an announcement that they are planning to assess the need to call an inquiry. 🤣

Under 40's waiting outside of Jeff's Shed (Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre) Vaccination Hub early this evening just in case there were any Pfizer doses that had to be used by closing tonight.

They were advised that there would only be most likely only 5 or 6 doses available tonight if they were lucky.

Bless them.

More than 200K QLDers are on a wait-list for a Pfizer vaccine the Courier Mail is reporting on tomorrow's Front Page.

The Australian's main story on the Front page is "Delta danger dawns: vaccine timeline at risk" where it's suggested that we may need to vaccinate children before we can return to our pre-pandemic way of life.

On the other hand The SMH's main story is "Don't rush jabs onto children: experts". I think this might be this article: ‘Children are not a tool’: specialists’ warning on COVID-19 vaccination

This could point to a difficult situation where children need to be vaccinated to get enough immunity in the community to return to a pre-pandemic way of life but we want to wait and see longer term effects before taking the risk of vaccinating them.

Dr Chant is usually well spoken. I personally found her bringing up vaccines for children to be ill-advised. There is clearly enough skepticism in the community for vaccinating adults who can make their own decisions, let alone minors. Trials are underway in other parts of the world. I see no reason why we should be speculating, or giving media any cause to speculate, rollout to further cohorts than what is already in the plan. It will sort itself out as trials continue.

The Pfizer trials are already done in the 12-15 yr age group. It’s approved for use in this age in several countries including the USA, Canada, UK and now in NZ.
Fully expected that the TGA here will follow suit.
Bring it on I think.
