The COVID-19 vaccine rollout in Australia has begun

California State data Vaccination progress data

Claiming 63.3% fully vaccinated and 9.7% partially vaccinated.

I guess California has to deal with a segment of undocumented immigrants.

If Australia vaccinates about 65% of the Australian (edit: adult) population, this is about 50% of the whole population (not sure about the 16+ figures).
All the % are very confusing unless you know what it’s out of. So for e.g. above the figure of 50% fully vaccinated and low 60s for 1st jab and this is supposed to be a scary predictor for Australia. However when you look at California’s figures for 18+ they become much more reassuring with 64.5% fully vaccinated and 79% first jab. (Source NY Times who get them from CDC). UK is even more reassuring…..

Good number again with the weekly rolling total now at 1,289, 671

ACT has now reached the 50% of 16+ population with a first jab. Tas is just a shade in front 50.48 to ACT’s 50.44.

Where do you get this from? Its not on health.gov.au - or at least I can't find it.
It’s on the first screen in the daily report.

I don't wait for them to post it, I just use the address that I predict that they will use each day. See it HERE
I have tried that but you often get an error if the PDF hasn’t been loaded yet. I usually wait until I see the figures pop up in CovidLive and then it’s always there. How sad our lives have become that the most exciting thing of the day is the daily vaccination report :)

Wouldn't it be good if here in Australia we had this transparency. The California figure is just over 50% of total population.

Just 72 days vaccine inventory on hand.

The Califorian data is available by ethnic group by county. Who knew there was so many native Hawaiians living in.....

Informative break-up by 'Existing health status'. The healthiest quartile are more vaccinated than any other and the proportion unvaccinated increases the worse peoples' underlying health is.

The Silicon Valley effect?

Looking at the numbers suggests that around one million people who got their first dose have not bothered getting their 2nd. Recent daily rate of vaccinations is a little over 71,600 for a population of near 40 million!

Covidlive now has 80% projections for each jurisdiction - hit the State page and its in a similar location.

NSW now projected to be 1st, followed by ACT and then Tas.....SA projected 7th and NT 8th. Its about a 30-day difference 1st to 8th.

These states will pass a half dozen or so US states for the percentage of 'first doses' in the next week or so.

Which would be terrific! While I would like ACT to win the race, having our most populous state get there first would do wonders for the country!

Yes it’s kind of sad the split in the vaccination rates in the USA. And the consequence is the death rates in those states are very high :( My best friend comes from Louisiana originally and she has been in constant arguments with relatives about vaccination…..

Another month sooner than a few days ago - and this push forward happened much quicker than the Feb 2022 to Jan 2022.

And that is sooner than the prediction for the USA. I‘m sure these are based on simple mathematical formulas and don’t take into account exponential growth which is happening in both countries due to outbreaks, but it is interesting. Maybe Aus will be more like Canada and beat the USA by the end of the year.

This. Whilst the little states can have fun winning the race amongst themselves - which to be honest they have no excuse not to, the fate of all of us lies with VIC, NSW and QLD getting there and getting there fast.

I totally agree with you - those states are key to moving forward. However I think the 3 little ones are doing an amazing job. They get vaccine in proportion to their populations and while they might have smaller numbers to vaccinate they also have fewer resources. Canberra’s public health struggles and emergency at the hospital a bit of a basket case and it wasn’t that long ago we were an area of need we had so few GPs. Tas and NT are probably similar and they have widespread communities to access as well. ACT are also vaccinating regional NSW, although they no longer show up in our figures.

Vic to open up AZ to anyone over 18. The State Run Hubs will have on site GP's that they will consult with prior to getting their vaccination.

Victorians under 40 to access AstraZeneca vaccine at state run centres from tomorrow

Victorians aged under 40 will now be able to access the AstraZeneca vaccine at state run centres from tomorrow.
The Victorian Government says the expanded access follows recent advice from ATAGI.
Authorities say Astra Zeneca will still be available to 18 to 39 year olds at participating GP and medical centres.
Vic to also commence operation of a "drive through" vaccination clinic. People will be vaccinated in their car.

Victoria soft-launches Australia's first drive-through vaccination clinic

"You book, you drive up, roll down your window, roll up your sleeve, get a jab, it's that easy," health official Naomi Bromley said.
"This is a fantastic addition to our existing state infrastructure. It will be a really good and convenient, simple, safe way for Victorians to get vaccinated.
"This first site is at a former Bunnings Warehouse location in Melton. It's at 149 Barries Road and it's operated by Westin Health.
"Now, the site has been soft launched today. Invitation only, but from tomorrow, it will be open to bookings so, please, jump online, have a look for some of those bookings opening up in Melton and from tomorrow we'll be welcoming people through for that drive-through model."

Hopefully they will expand to do over 18s at pharmacies too like NSW at some point.

At present for the younger cohort they still want them to consult with a GP and GPs will be at the state run hubs as part of the process.

So pharmacies when it happens in Vic will probably be for vaccination without a GP consult and so will probably be for an older cohort (unless Vic has cases surge that is).
