The COVID-19 vaccine rollout in Australia has begun

I rang the QLD Health hotline on Friday and was told that from 1 Sept the vaccine will be available for 12-15 year olds in QLD, does anyone know if this is true, I haven't seen anything in writing. I didn't 100% believe the operator as he didn't sound convincing and I felt he was just trying to get me off the phone.
Anyway, in the hope that its true I have booked my 15 yr olds in for 25 Sept and will look for an earlier option in it becomes available

People under 40 (16-40) are starting to book Pfizer appointments in South Australia who live in Adelaide this morning with availability as early as next week. Country SA has been open to all for weeks now. Bring it on.

If there were forest fires burning, would you say that the firefighters should ignore the areas which are currently on fire in favour of those that might possibly catch fire later?
If the fire retardant took 4 weeks to have any effect, then you’d be better off ring fencing the fire, and letting it burn itself out. So, that would mean abandoning Sydney, and giving all of the vaccine to the surrounds.
Yes, but the problem is if one state does it first just because it has a higher vaccination rate and where the other states are not yet at the "living with covid" vaccination rate. So it is not forever , it is until we get nationally a high enough vaccination rate everywhere within Australia.
Australia no longer exists. Nationally, now equals internally in each state.

The obvious counter argument is : Would we have been better off stateless through the Panademic.
Scotty in charge au wide ?
All decisions made in heav.. er Canberra ?

Just looked at VIC numbers. 40-44 and 45-49 fully vaccinated numbers (42.22% and 44.10% respectively) are high in VIC much higher than the national average of 32% and 34.2% respectively. Still ahead of the national average for at least first dose percentages for those age groups, but not by much.

Canberra has 70% first jabs and 45% and 48% fully vaccinated for those groups. Our outbreak seems to be in the much younger cohort - 14 to early 20s where vaccination hasn’t started.

Which is a function of the lockdown 4.0 bump and change to Pfizer eligibility (to include 40-49) at the same time. I and many others in that age group raced out and got Pfizer in early June...and it was available for walk ups too.

I'm all for getting rid of the states. And even more especially the bureaucracy that they all duplicate. As for Scotty, he's not in charge now, so why would that change.

I was at the Wodonga hub this morning, getting my second AZ (at 14 weeks). They're no longer taking walk ins, and it was fully booked for the day. There were very few people who looked to be over 60. I'd place most at 30-45, with some who looked to be in their 20s.

I'll mention it again and I know I am preaching to the converted here, but if anyone wants an AZ jab quickly and is having trouble, go on to the website of pharmac_ chains (Priceline, Terrry White for example) and see what's available around you. There is plenty of availability.

Yep. Little chemist on the corner of my street here in the inner west has signs everywhere saying “we are an AZ hub - come in!!!”. Even right next to a train station.

There are no longer any excuses for not being vaccinated.

Really heartening to hear on ABC radio a uni arts student organised a ‘vaccine party’ and she and 50 people lined up at one of the VIC mass hubs for their AZ this morning - all VIC hubs are now doing AZ 18+.

What a great initiative. We need more proactive people like this instead of moaners and whingers. Apparently there is another one tomorrow her sister is leading!

Well, when the only party you can have is in line for the vax …
