The COVID-19 vaccine rollout in Australia has begun

Who says Andrews doesnt know (the comment was about Vic cancellations)? You have to give your dob when you book, they know the age of the people cancelling and data shows it is under 40s.

This was to be expected, exactly what happened when advice for 50-59s changed and most that had yet to receive first jab, switched to Pfizer.
And you suggest that the Project has access to that data? Andrews didn't seem happy at all about it

Just about every day she talks about the 6 million jab goal and she details the total vaccinations for the day prior (not just state based). It gets the whole population on side and everybody knows where they sit.

So what happens at the 6 million jab mark?

Looking at today's update. It looks as though looks like NSW will have probably reached it today already. Did the world change? What happens now?

I guess we'll see if Victoria makes a big thing of 5 million jabs?

Well that would only be 580,000 jabs away. I am not sure that would make any appreciable difference.

At 6 million jabs there's going to be some benefits for vaccinated residents outside of the LGAs of concern. She mentioned that today and we will find out later in the week specifically what they are. They will be minor, but they will be treasured in this dark time. Yes, today it was announced we were at 5.9 million, so the 6 millionth jab would have been delivered today and be reported tomorrow.

It's funny, you make this big thing that NSW is surging ahead in vaccination and we should hand over our vaccines to other states to level up - yet when I point out one of the reasons NSW is so motivated, you play it down.

At six million she will congratulate everyone, well not everyone just those who have been vaccinated then do some waffling for around 15 minutes.

At the end of it most will walk away scratching their heads trying to work out what it is they are actually getting. Luckily I already know what I will be getting and that is nothing as my first dose is not till the 23rd sep. which is the earliest booking I could find.

Strange thing is I don't feel like I will be missing out as I doubt there is anything of worth they can change till the numbers are higher.

Well done to almost 4 million NSW people that got the jab - just 2-point something million are fully vaccinated and get reward.

What has happiness got to do with root cause? Andrews has the age data for cancelled bookings at state run hubs which do approx 50% of bookings in Vic (higher than any other state, would love to know why higher % of doses go to state hubs in Vic), so he knows the demographics of the cancellation. Not much of a leap then to causation given past experience with 50-59s.

That data will have been leaked to the media for sure. It was also memtioned on abc. You and Andrews might not like what is happening but that doesnt change things. The mass cancellations started after the 16-39 announcement.

If you have a plausible other reason id like to hear it? Its not lockdown as you can break the 5km rule to get vaccinated.

Some GPs with Pfizer have already been taking direct bookings for under 40s for dates from next week, as soon as it was announced. How do i know? Because whilst getting my coffee today, the cashier told me he is all booked to get his pfizer next week at new GP 2 blocks away and he is 27.

I think you missed the point. The headlines blare people are cancelling. You suggest possibly they are switching vaccinations. That is hardly something to be unhappy about.

I don't give a diddly squat as long as people get vaccinated. My point in posting the original comment is that you referenced The Project as a source for your discussion.

I happened to see a Nine Melbourne news clip on YouTube from tonight and they said the vacant spots going to waste were for Pfizer.

On A Current Affair tonight Gladys said NSW has passed 6 million doses and she will announce a reward for vaccinated people later this week.

The are under booked pfizer but the cancellations and no shows have been for AZ, covered on mutiple news sites not just The Project. Many under 40s who cancelled wont be able to rebook until online bookings open to them next week

Well if Vic cant get enough over 40s to use all Pfizer slots this week, open up to under 40s early. SA and WA already have, better than wasting the wanted supply limited vaccine.

No, it's vaccines going to waste, and if not directly the vials, the opportunity slot - prolonging the vaccine rollout which has other effects.

Step up, get vaccinated, don't cancel, don't be fussy. That's what matters.

The waste is extremely unfortunate. Not much can be done about that now given the toxicity sprayed on AZ, even from people who should know better.

It's Pfizer spots going unfilled. Well both, but mostly Pfizer according to Nine Melbourne.

Sorry, I didn't click that you were referring Pfizer cancellations. So the idea that people were cancelling AZ in order to get Pfizer, as apparently mentioned on The Project, are wrong?

Why is it happening then? Surely there is an urgency still in Victoria?

As long as they get vaccinated, that's the main game.

We have seen a huge surge in bookings into the VIC clinics this week and next for both vax jabs. Lots of people are shifting channels to get their jabs too. So yes make sure a bit harder to plan but as long as a needle gets in that arm :)
