The COVID-19 vaccine rollout in Australia has begun

This definitely unfolding, two people have died after receiving contaminated Moderna in Japan. 1.63 million doses have been recalled in Japan, although 500,000 of those doses have already been administered. There is one packaging plant in spain that packages all Moderna for use outside the US.

There also appears to be a separate issues with the stoppers in the vials from the same plant.

I'm not sure if this is a major issue or not but supply could be constrained whilst this is fixed. (so don't hang out waiting for Moderna when there's plenty of good AZ sloshing around)

Of all places to happen as well, they are already so vaccine hesitant ( the Japanese)

500,000 swap deal with Singapore - swap their September with our December.

ABC News- Australia to receive 500,000 Pfizer doses in 'vaccine swap' with Singapore

The Prime Minister has announced that Singapore will soon send half a million Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine doses to Australia as part of a "vaccine swap" between two countries.
Under the agreement, Australia will receive 500,000 Pfizer doses which will shortly expire.
Scott Morrison says those vaccines will be rolled out across Australia from next week, and will be shared equally with all states and territories on the basis of population.
The Federal Government will then deliver half a million Pfizer vaccines back to Singapore in December, when Australia is expected to have ample supplies.
Singapore has already fully vaccinated well over 80% of its population against COVID-19 and has begun the process of easing restrictions.
Mr Morrison has hailed the vaccine swap as an example of international cooperation, saying Australia and Singapore are working together to make sure vaccines are used before they expire.

A most welcome win-win for both Singapore and Australia.

Has anyone posted a reason for the unbelievably low Victorian daily vaccination levels by 'State Administration' that occasionally appear? I don't believe that they only administered 1,132 doses in 'State' clinics yesterday. This sort of figure has occurred previously. Is it simply a case of incomplete figures being published?

I'm just guessing - may be be some don't have an address in AIR?

If a Vic state hub vaccinates someone from say Tasmania - it will show up in Tasmania stats....so possibly if no address then no stat???

They occasionally surge on the weekend. As it's all AIR based I'm guessing there's a backlog or a problem in the data exchange (or heaven forbid it's entered manually).

I noted a friend in Queensland who had signed paperwork and stamps when he got his Pfizer at the hub - in NSW it's all paperless (other than your job number printed receipt when you check in)

I don't think that would explain why on a particular day almost none are recorded and then on a saturday or sunday they have double. I'd say it's more of a big picture data exchange issue.

Glitch in the system possibly. They had one similar a few weeks ago

I didn't realise that there was an AZ supply problem.
I stated that back in Feb and was referring to supply of Vaccines in general. Which at that stage was Pfizer as AZ was at that time not approved and when it was approved, was coming from EU

No official reason has been given that I have seen.

Yesterday was 32, 162 doses in the State Hubs in Victoria as reported by VicDHHS..

There has always been some minor differences in the Federal and State Tallies, but not the almost total missing of doses that have been common on some days since the new system came into being.

No one seems to know.

Queensland seems a bit low today for vaccinations - even by their own standards.

The premier has more important fish to fry than vaccinating the masses… NRL are labour royalty but the press has been beating the fairness drum.
We are again suffering from the NOCOVID smugness disease here , masks are steadily disappearing , although the
punters at Bunnings remain mostly masked.

We are over half way to the 70% target. 35.03% of 16+ fully vaccinated.

Every age group 50-54 and up has 70% with a first dose.

VIC should go past 35% fully vaccinated for 16+ when today’s numbers are released tomorrow.

Next week sometime we should go past half way to the 80% fully vaccinated for 16+ target

ACT first doses for 70+ has gone from 99.45% to >95%. Sounds like they don't trust the accuracy of the numbers they are seeing at that level, perhaps including some difficulty in separating out NSW residents that live near the ACT from the numbers.

Given an apparent batch of missing stats, it might be a case of a "record" day tomorrow.

385,121 jabs or more might take us to 2m jabs per week.

Small story on Front Page of Tomorrow's SMH - "One in five health staff unjabbed" - That is a disgrace. Health staff were in the priority groups to be vaccinated at the start of the rollout.
