The COVID-19 vaccine rollout in Australia has begun

They need to be looking for influencers who are relevant to those group who are hesitant. Politcians are not going to influence those anti vaxxing mommy bloggers. Sports people might be a start for a huge swathe of Australians.
I suspect certainly by the time we get to 2B that sports people may well get priority at that point. Whether they would get priority any sooner than that is another question. Any disruption to sport has significant financial impacts on the sport and the broadcasters.

Just been reported that South Australia has only distributed 1/3 of the vaccines received from the Federal Govt. What on earth are we waiting for?

Another trip to Murray Bridge to mop up those who missed out last time? 🤔

Apparently going to announce a mass vaccination clinic tomorrow to mop up the occupational people in 1b. 3000 a week. But, opening up in a months time.....May.

So it looks like it is a couple of State Governments dragging the chain on roll outs.

And yet first to point the finger at the state government or reduce overseas arrivals.

Weak links in chains, etc...

Maybe the Federal Government should get some help from the military like in the USA, and stop flapping about?
I would expect that like with hotel quarantine the government would be likely to grant any requests made by the states for military assistance.

Sometimes I feel like 🙇🏼‍♀️ And have been criticised by some here for expecting more of our SA state government in terms of the roll out. There's no urgency etc etc. Blaming the fact there isn't availability. Well, there is, we just aren't using it 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️

You are right to bemoan the SA government's record on vaccinations.According to this article the worst performance of any State with only 35% of doses received being used.

CHO QLD Jeanette Young, just now, still trotting out the lie that supply is the issue!
"It is supply; It's not any of the other issues; It is purely supply"

Well she isn't accountable to anyone it seems, so she may as well blame it on the boogie.

I'm hearing from every state health department that I'm involved with that supply has been and continues to be an issue. Gladys has spoken out about it a couple of times in the last month from a NSW perspective. And now Qld is speaking out. But every state health department I'm dealing with has the same frustrations with the Feds.

Every state I'm dealing with has independently made the decision to manage the supply they have received in order to guarantee delivery of second doses because of continued and repeated missed delivery from the Feds. I've not seen any "internal" state health forecast for vaccine rollout that are even remotely aligned to the Federal timetable - which is not great news for those of us hoping for international borders opening up in October. Very little trust from any of the states right now.

QLD had/has enough to vaccinate their frontline health workers.
They chose not to.
They chose to move all covid positive HQ travellers to hotels where they interacted with frontline health workers who they chose not to vaccinate.
This is all on them, 100%.

QLD CHO/Health is just running coverfire on broader vaccine supply to desperately try and cover up their gigantic mess of their own making
Re: broader vaccine supply - yes still isn't up there as the local AZ production is just working its way through to clinics.

They could choose to partially inoculate all frontline workers or ensure that they had sufficient supply to fully inoculate those who received their first shot. They chose the latter. As has every other state health department in the country. As has the Feds in managing the rollout to Aged Care.

It's funny how all these comments about issues with vaccine supply talk up how local production is still working it's way through or how the Italian blockade of 250k doses is impacting. Yet both these relate to Astra Zeneca. All the supply issues to frontline workers and to aged care relate to delivery of Pfizer. Smokescreen much?

EDITED TO ADD: Gladys spoke this morning about some of the frustrations NSW are having with continuity of supply. Not an isolated issue. Not related just to AZ.

QLD Health had enough vaccine to fully innoculate all their frontline staff working with covid positives in hospital.

They didn't, nor did they require people to be vaccinated as a condition of working in these areas.

This part of the mess is all on QLD.

The rest of the rollout -> meh cut the data anyway you want, they are all bureaucrats and politicians doing what they do best, conflate and divert and blame.

Listen to the NSW press conference today and see what their views are on the rollout of the vaccines. There's no love lost between Qld and NSW over various issues with the pandemic, but all the states are singing from the same hymn sheet here. Brad Hazzard has just gone ballistic at the Feds.

Set up vaccination stations at exit of MCG and Marvel and get up to 100,000 doses over and on top of GP's and hospitals every AFL weekend.
Great idea (not), even if you are talking about only phase 1a and phase 1b eligible people going to the footy. Which I don’t think you are, and if that’s correct then the plan is prioritising footy-going people over those who need it most ( about 6-7 million people in 1a and 1b).

Continue the thought bubble. How do you check the people’s health records before you give them an injection, for possible history of anaphylaxis and other negativities in receiving vaccination? You can’t rely on people’s memory on what they tell you.

How does booze go with a Covid vaccination, I wonder?

How do you record the peoples identities properly and accurately for instance so their GPs or their regular medical providers can be notified that they receive the vaccination? Does every footy fan carry their Medicare card around with them?
How do you schedule their follow-up vaccination?

All these great mass vaccination ideas are great in theory but with a little thought there is usually a good reason why they aren’t being done here.

All That info is asked for on the consent form pre vaccination along with Medicare number. Would take a minute to review all the ticks etc. No different to walk in Covid testing clinics except for the observation period afterwards.

I heard it too. Sounds like someone in the federal system might of been a bit too clever.
