The COVID-19 vaccine rollout in Australia has begun

What a pathetically low day for the country.

I am disgusted at the poor level of "journalism" in the original article which, frankly, reads like a piece from the Daily Mail. And I am even more disgusted at the political game playing over it.

I have just read Casey Briggs thread on this, he is clearly of the opinion that the story written by his own employer is wrong.

Disgraceful.
Australia is back to pre-covid fudgery and shenanigans.

Disgraceful.

He's not the only one - the guy who runs covidlive said the same thing last night (I posted his message up thread).

I've been disappointed by certain forum members trying to make arguments based on incomplete data, never thought the ABC would do exactly the same.

All it's done is brought more division to the country and potentially given the lower vaxxed states an out. You can see in Casey's stats the disparity between states was there well before the extra doses were sourced for NSW.

Well there is a quick way to fix the vagueness / incomplete data - just release all the numbers Pfizer shots distributed to hubs and GPs (edit in each State and Terriitory); might as well also release the Astra Zeneca shots distributed to hubs, GPs and pharmacies (edit in each State and Terriitory). And then give specific utilisations for each channel and vaccine type (edit in each State and Terriitory). Hope they add up to the AIR data.

Even if you give the number a week ago, that might give some level of transparency. Hopefully the Lieutenant General is on to it.

I'm not sure how you can make an assumption that lower rates of vaccination in WA/QLD is due to supply rather than demand. NSW/VIC probably a reasonable comparison but if for example you look at vax stats in Victoria in their mini outbreak in June, you can see that vaccinations fell off quickly once Victorians thought they were over it. From an average of 50K a day to less than 30K, a pretty good example of the effect on demand of being in lockdown vs not..

Perhaps provocative, but only 3 jurisdictions were fully utilised - as at week 28 (6 September info) - Qld, WA and ACT.

Which is meaningless, as it includes AZ. If you ran out of AZ, you didn't order enough.

The Herald Sun normally takes any opportunity to put the boot into the Vic government.

It reports that:

...and...

...and...

So the take is that the Commonwealth channel in Vic was actively suppressed by the Commonwealth.

What you say is meaningless, because you have no evidence of that either. The published data is incomplete.

I have no evidence it includes AZ? Umm... don't know how to respond to that. It does.

Stands to reason if you are ordering AZ you will have enough on hand for walk ins / emergencies, and utilisation for NSW & VIC were both 97% which is about 96K for NSW vaccines - hardly anything.

I'm not drawing conclusions, I'm saying drawing conclusions from that table is meaningless.

Everyone needs to take a breath, here and in the media. No one has all the numbers to make the call.

The people who do are probably dressing them up for release shortly 😂

Casey Briggs does, he requested it from the government (it is otherwise unpublished) and is what he made his assessment on that the ABC claim doesn't stack up.

Not even sure the choice of vaccine is relevant, if onboarding that channel in Vic was deliberately throttled.

I can confirm because it’s my job, that the GP channel was throttled in all states and territories.

Not going to wade into the screechy NSW v VIC v QLD and who got what though :) as much as I love to read armchair expertise 😂

NSW Police have just announced mandatory vaccinations for ALL employees (the usual medical exemptions aside) by end of November
NSW Police to mandate vaccination for all employees

All police force members must have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine by September 30, and must be fully vaccinated by November 30.

Evidence of employees’ vaccination will be recorded on police systems while exemptions will be available for medical or other valid reasons.

Deputy Commissioner Webb said more than 17,000 police employees had already been fully or partially vaccinated.

EDIT: Just adding - 17,000 is roughly 80% of their workforce, currently... so doing very well already!

Your reply is still meaningless.

You draw a conclusion that there are not AZ on shelves in those states fully utilised. There is no proof of that.

Keep taking shots at my posts by continually calling them meaningless, because you can read a table.

Its much better if you didn't reply rather than continually labelling them. Its getting offensive

75-79 has 69.6% fully vaccinated, so they should be the first age group to go past 70% when today's numbers are released tomorrow.

60-64 has 79.9% with a first dose, so when today's numbers are released tomorrow every age group 60+ will have gone past 80% with a first dose.

20-24 is at 39.6% with a first dose, so from tomorrow every age group 20-24 and up should be past 40% with a first dose.

NSW first doses rose from 74.06% to 74.8%, an increase of 0.74% of the 16+ population.

VIC first doses rose from 60.75% to 61.59%, an increase of 0.84% of the 16+ population.

So VIC make more progress on first doses on Monday percentage wise than NSW.

More than 2/3 (66.94%) of VIC 70+ are fully vaccinated.

VIC still has a higher percentage of 50+ (59.46%) fully vaccinated than NSW (59.26%). Both of those numbers should go past 60% when today's numbers are released tomorrow.

ACT is the first state/territory to go past 70% first dose for 16+ (70.14%).

TAS should go past 90% first dose for 70+ when today's numbers are released tomorrow.

You admitted your post was provocative. I'm explaining why drawing conclusions from that table is meaningless. You can disagree with me if you like but I'm entitled to point out why I don't agree with your (self described as provocative) post. If doses were fully utilised that literally means 0% of doses left - ie, no spare. I don't know why saying that upset you.

If you don't want people debating your posts, don't make provocative claims.
