The COVID-19 vaccine rollout in Australia has begun

Herald Sun headline tomorrow "Jab Jolt". There's a three hour wait for COVID tests and yet the vaccination hubs are almost empty.
Isn’t it about time the media started reporting once more umm, the prevalence of blood clots and other side effects amongst those who have received the Covid injfection?

Great news... let’s hope no ridiculous long winded tender program this time...

Pfizer likely to be administered by GPs, pharmacies as TGA green lights new storage protocol

Millions of Australians could receive their Pfizer shots from GPs and in pharmacies after a crucial decision by the Therapeutic Goods Administration to allow the vaccine to be stored in regular refrigerators for up to a month, Greg Hunt announced.

“That will open up general practice and pharmac_ options with Pfizer,” he said. “We will be able to have a dual track program of our general practices and community pharmacies.”

Dr Karen Price, president of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, said the approval was a “game-changer” for the vaccine rollout.

“GPs have capacity, all around the country we have been saying we have capacity to domore doses,” she said.

“We do this with the flu vaccine every year. GPs are the mass vaccinators of the country.”

On behalf of my toddlers in the family I resent that insult to their intelligence :)

They're saving up the stories about rare heart problems from the Pfizer vaccine overseas. I'm sure that's the next doom and gloom beat up - followed naturally by "Why aren't people getting vaccinated?".

Hmmm. Oh well I'll have to keep on waiting to get vaccinated. Was planning to head into the city to try and get a jab this weekend. I would have gone earlier had I known they were bending the rules previously:

Its interesting that only NSW and Vic are publicly releasing first dose vs fully vaccinated data - Id like to see this reported for all jurisdictions.

From SMH vaccine tracker:

The WA Govt., at least, does publicly release these figures and it is available on its "Vaccination Dashboard". I assume the lack of detail on this chart is because the SMH didn't bother to check.

Yes, jurisdiction breakdown by first dose/ second dose is available.

I'm surprised that Queensland is not further behind, given the appalling leadership of the premier and CHO concerning the vaccine, particularly the cynical public injection of the flu vaccine - obviously set up to fool people into thinking "she's getting the jab" when she's not getting the covid jab.

Thankfully a lot of healthcare professionals here don’t really listen to the QLD CHO, it’s been a problem for a while.

Will be really interesting to see how much vaccine rates jump everywhere this week, hoping this puts a good panic into some parts of the population.

Japan is currently on 85 deaths from (i.e. after) 6.01 million jabs, ages ranging from 25 to 102. All Pfizer.

For some reason the figures are being viewed a lot more rationally than would happen in Australia.

They probably don’t stock up on toilet paper either :)
