The Dark side of Japan Tourism.

A few links I came across. First Australians Detained Abroad. Set up by the Military Attorney for David Hicks of Al Qaeda fame. he was amazed at the lack of help for Australians over seas. He now lives in Melbourne.

And a few others re the laws in Japan plus more English speaking lawyers.

What the US Military does when a service member is arrested.

And the US Department of State and human rights in Japan.

Interesting that late night interrogations they feel are a violation and I was interrogated for over an hour at 8.30pm on the Sunday I was in detention.

I will now go on and finish the Hokkaido TR i promise.

Interesting article of a court case about to commence in south Australia. With exactly the opposite charges. Same situation. Sadly a death of the young man who was in the same position as you . I guess drron you were 'lucky' it was 'only' a bike in your accident.

Certainly a unique travel experience.

A "unique travel experience" that none of us wish would happen to us.

To borrow from that long ago 'Clayton's' commercials, for drrron, itr was "the holiday you have when you're not having a holiday".

Dr, my prayers are for you in the hope you've fully recovered not just physically but psychologically.

That's weird. It opens for me on a different browser and I'm not logged in there.

Basically a young man slowed down to perform a right turn in Kangaroo Island. As he was making the turn a sealink tourist bus was overtaking him - or maybe he was simply travelling faster than an obviously slowing driver doing a right turn, the bus hit the car with the driver of the car taking the full impact and the car driver was killed almost instantly. His passenger was injured. The bus driver will soon go to court facing charges -

Mr Kleinig, 59, of Kingscote, was charged with one aggravated count and one basic count of driving without due care as a result of the collision.

He has pleaded not guilty to both charges, and is listed to stand trial in the Adelaide Magistrates Court in November.

Those proceedings will take place before Magistrate Oliver Koehn sitting alone, because the lower court does not empanel juries for its trials.

The offence of aggravated driving without due care carries a maximum 12-month prison term and minimum six-month licence disqualification.
