The definitive thread on Qantas IT gripes

Single sectors and straight returns - only Y shows up; need to click other classes.
Multi-city searches - all applicable cabins show up.

Go figure.
Ah. That explains why I always see all classes as by default I do multiple sector searches.

No direct Qantas award fights HNL to SYD in any class when did that begin?.
Not sure about any class as I only wanted J. My flights are May this year so I would have started checking 13 months before that to get a handle on release patterns. It throws up J alright but the devil in the detail is that it’s in Jetstar. And only Qantas into Adelaide.

Not entirely true.

I can see J SYD-HNL in May:

I can ee Y back on a few days I selected (or J on JQ). I only looked at a few and I admit I didn't see J on the QF flight but I didn't look terribly hard

Yes I am P1, so I can see more seats, but it's absolutely not true they are not out there.

It is a high demand route so it's not that easy and it is a yield management choice also.
When people are upset about being offered routings via LAX or PVG remember if you're asking for a premium award and they give you one then the system is actiually working, even if it is a semingly ridiculous routing.

Either way these are NOT website issues or bugs (amazingly :D )

Did you click the link and see J is actually Jetstar as per my previous post?

And you changed the screenshot from month to day I think?

QF3, operated by a 744, with avail in all classes.

(and also the JQ flight) as my screenshot showed.

so.... not sure what to say?

Can you try Hon - Adl (via Melb) on 16 June? I have been tracking that flight for 7 months and no offer. WP too. I also requested the flight to be released just after release date and was denied as 2 WP’s. I think as per OP it’s the getting out of Hon that’s the issue not incoming.

I never checked out of Australia as we are flying into SFO.

Well I can turn that into a gripe then to be on topic. Kind of. When I requested those seats to be released as WP, why didn’t the CS person (kind of IT) tell me that!

perhaps it was in the schedule then, and has since been cancelled from it.

Definitely no QF4 currently scheduled for 16/6

My big gripe with online seat selection is where there is a change of plane on a single flight number i.e. QF12 JFK-SYD, where it is a Dreamliner (JFK-LAX) then A380 (LAX-SYD) it wont let me pick a seat myself online

Hear hear!
American Airlines can handle seat selections on a multi-leg trip under a single flight number (multiple different aircraft) why can't QF?

Another glitch when making bookings for next week. Flight Adelaide - Mel. 3 rows of J class. Booking for WP in their account.
Seat selection shown during the booking:
No rows 4 and 5 appear not even showing as blocked.

Not for me they don't? This is what I see when I do a Multi-city (with Flexible dates ticked). I then have to tick the other boxes and press "Go". Then the search happens again and I see the other classes.

Qantas can’t report status credits correctly on their iPhone app. According to the app I have 1420 credits towards P1. The mobile website correctly shows I have 1470. The app seems to be doubly deducting the loyalty bonus of 50 status credits from my total of 1520.

Where do I start?

Prehaps the best one I've experienced was when I was in Hong Kong and the QF website decided I didn't have any flights booked. In other words it had forgotten about my return flight.

Luckily it came good before I was scheduled to fly home, but not before a call to make sure I was infact getting home.

Prompting to check in after having checked in ages ago. ... an hour before the departure the app requests me to check in as the check in is closing soon.
Another nice little anomaly with the Android app today. At 3:45 pm I got a text that my 7 pm flight was cancelled and they are updating my booking. And aptly, a few minutes later the app showed me checked in for a 8 pm flight. All good and seamless, thank you! But then at 6 pm the app reminded me to check in to the 7 pm...
Didn't dare to click it. Who knows what might have happened - I might have gotten the plane resurrected and all of the A330 to myself alone. And the crew & wine for 300 pax on the house. That would have made one heck of a flight home... :D:D:D

I did see a couple award seats SYD/HNL those dates in May, so tried a one way return from HNL to SYD and its there.
Without status and yet raking up 500K in FF points does not count when in comes to award seat availability International, simply ridiculous

Agree on that however it's more of a policy issue than an IT gripe.

I'm confused. On the one hand you say award space is there, then you say having the points counts for nothing. huh? Also "one way return"?

Sorry to be pedantic but this doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Also as noted award availaibility issues are QF yield/revenue mnagement policies, not technical issues (excepting when seats do not show, or show as phantoms of course)
