The definitive thread on Qantas IT gripes

Just got a new one - they must have run out of toasters to sell me or something...

Seriously the QF website just has so many error problems it is beyond a joke!
Seen that a hell of a lot recently trying to do anything through Business Rewards.

Academic. Singapore are getting my corporate spend after half coughd service and three weeks without a response to a complaint.

Well if a Gold member can't get access to a page showing Reward flights then I would hate to be Bronze!

Any ideas how one accept an replacement flight when the re-acommdation site won't work?

Entering my PNR and surname doesn't lead to anywhere.

No cough! Truest thing that anyone from Qantas has ever said!

You do seem to be have more than you fare share of challenges. I assume you’ve tried different browsers and/or hardware?

Even the various app versions are pretty stable (apart from the odd occasion you take on a new persona….).

Yeah... wanted to avoid calling but seems inevitable. All these self-serve functions seem to barely work. The previous one where it was embedded into MMB seemed to work but now the shift to a specific re-acomm site seems to have made the process worse.

On the phone and been waiting as a P1 for 10 minutes so I'm guessing other cancellations are clogging the lines as well.

FWIW, travelling in a few hours but was really hoping to go door to boarding rather than making a stop at the service desk.

So did not work via app?

Three different browsers and two different laptops...

Can't argue with that, man

Was just offering what I call the "mechanical engineering" approach to computer science. Smack it.
Might as well - the tech support approach of turning it off and then back on again was a waste of time.

Yeah. But these people socialise with me. Can't call them right minded if they do silly things like that!!!
But it's surprising how many things in the Microsoft end user environment get resolved that way. Even my brand new Win11 laptop needs a weekly reboot because it just grinds to a crawl within a few days. The previous Win10 laptops kept humming along much better.

Reminds me of a friend who was a sys admin in a Unix environment. He jokingly quipped about our Windows Server reboots, asking why would we do it. Last time they rebooted a server was several years earlier.

I wonder if QF has rebooted their systems? Perhaps it could suddenly improve the stability of them. 😁

Just one reason I refuse every time my win10 box tries to helpfully prompt me to upgrade to win11. As long as it's optional I'm staying put thank you very much :D

ah yes, as we say "Have you tried turning it off and on again...." :D

and yes, I would often be responsible for servers with uptimes over a year. More recently we'd reboot only to install a new kernel with security patches and the like because, you know, that has to be a thing, but yes in general very solid reliability outside the Windows ecosystem. Though Unix systems can have their moments... get a runaway process go mad, java chewing up all your RAM for no good reason and sending you into swap hell or badly written applications (often also Java based :D ) sending CPU's into meltdown.... but often these could be solved without reboot.

But I digress... :D

:D
The worst mistake at work I've made wrecked an Aix server completely. A tiny little closing ' at the end of a parameter for the file erase command. It traversed throughout the system. I proofread the shell script three or four times over and still missed the error. A workplace experience kid level of a rookie mistake.

Perhaps I would have great credentials to join QF IT. 🤭
