The definitive thread on Qantas IT gripes

Probably better SC earn than what you would get on QF in J from SYD-LAX direct too!
Slightly OT, but that one time it was about $4k return (obviously preCovid) but difficult to reproduce. I lucked in with a QF Sale fare to NAN (hasn’t been any post Covid) and FJ sale to LAX that flowed through to the QF codeshare price.

However, the price quoted in FJD didn’t line up with the expected AUD equivalent. There was possibly some sort of DCC or multiple conversion going on but it was still pretty cheap at the time. And yes, scored a shedload of SCs. But did have to argue our way into the LAX F lounge!

There are a couple of anomalies(?) or opportunities out there.

I’ve personally booked NAN-LAX (return) on QF codes. When nested with SYD-NAN (return) it made for a relatively cheap transpac J fare and obviously better SC/points earn, lounge arrangements than FJ codes.
And FJ get bonus thumbs up for not having any B787's!

In practice, the current criteria means you could wander around collecting eligible flights without setting your foot on a QF Group aircraft? Rather generous of them.
Sorta. Functionally, it's very hard to book a QF codeshare only flight (other than EK) without touching QF Metal

There’s actually a lot eg LA, AA, FJ, SB and I’ve lost track of the various Chinese airlines and where they’re at. Yes, to end up on a QF codeshare on AF, KL, AY, WY you‘re most likely going to be on QF metal ex Oz.

Trying to book Classic awards through the iPad app. Keeps on telling me to login - I am logged in.
Oh, that can be annoying. Maybe try the website via Safari. Possibly better functionality anyway?

Looks like the frequent flyer section has been isolated from the QF booking engine, trying to book flights to Haneda and it wants me to log in despite being logged in, oh and it wants $50 for a standard seat as a LTG

I’m also LTG and it wanted me to pay for emergency exit - not sure if this is correct with all the changes going on.

TBH, unless it was a very simple CR booking eg SYD-MEL, I would normally use the website first over the app.
It was a very simple CR booking annoyingly.

Trying to download an activity statement. I'm sure there used to be a download button and it's not sorting into date unless you want the last three months If you click on date and then click on category it does nothing SIGH

You also can't use the down arrows to look at details for the other services FFS

Cheers Drron, I trust you are well? Have a bit more time now I have retired so can travel hence my post this morning, the issue seems to have resolved itself online at QF. Returning from China a week or so ago was a bit surprised to see the old T-72 trick had stopped working and QF would happily let me sit in Row 4 of the 737 for an extra fee, damn enhancements ;)
