The definitive thread on Qantas IT gripes

Might have missed something similar upthread, but apparently I've earned all my lifetime SCs this year...should I call them to ask why I'm not WP1?

(Total balance of 11,051 is correct and my year-to-date earn of 970 is correct elsewhere...)

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Looking at Qantas insurance. I get to the landing page and then every option I click on results in "400 Bad request" - quote, PDS, etc.

Now on the phone to them. Told that the issue is my browsing history & cookies - need to be cleared (somewhat patronising tone, I thought, too). I know this is cough, but its time to do a clean anyway.

Of course, didn't fix the issue. 🤷‍♂️

Took me a lot to get me to look at QF Insurance, and I'm stopped right there. Not going to do something like this on the phone.

LOL. Did you clean the keyboard with a wet wipe as well? Intelligent IT absolve themselves of incompetence by saying you dropped cookies on the keyboard. :)

Trying to price out a return trip. Booking engine tells me the cheapest option on my outbound leg is $890, with the cheapest option on the inbound leg being $805. So that's a theoretical cheapest return flight of $1695. Problem is, when I look at the options presented, there's nothing cheaper than $1,203 showing for outbound, whilst the cheapest inbound option is $474, making a total of $1,677.

Strangely enough, when I just look at a one-way for the outbound leg, lo and behold that $1,203 flight is indeed priced at $890. So in effect, I should be able to purchase the return trip for $1,364, but the Qantas booking engine wants me to pay $1,677. Time for an assisted booking via the call centre?

Domestic or international?

International.pricing doesn't always work that way. It may not be a bug but pricing rules.

International. But even if it’s pricing rules, surely the engine should be telling me the correct lowest price for the day?
If I read your post correctly, one way fares can be and often are different to return fares

However perhaps I'm misunderstanding and it is a bug :)

Have you tried pricing put same via an OTA to confirm?

Sorry, I was probably not clear in my earlier post. What I meant was that when I do a search for a return fare, the lowest price for the outbound leg is suggested to be $890…

IMG_0082.jpeg
…but when I look at the available flight options, there is no combination for that date that is lower than $1,203. When it comes to the the return/inbound leg, the lowest price of the day Is suggested to be $805…

IMG_0083.jpeg
…but the lowest combination being offered for that day is actually $474. So what I’m getting at is that the cheapest fare for the day doesn’t match the available options presented by the booking engine. This is all for revenue fares rather than award bookings and even the options including JQ don’t provide anything resembling the suggested lowest fare of the day.

I haven’t, but thats a good idea thanks. Will give that a go as well.

Well, I think the booking engine is well and truly having a rough day at the office. The same search is now offering up these interesting options for Business award fares for the inbound leg (as an alternative to the revenue fares I was searching)...

So these are apparently Award fares that earn SC and FF points for PC/PC+ members. Bargain!!

The classic plus being negative I can kinda see (it's dynamically priced, so if the cash price is something unexpected then so will the Classic+), but I can't even begin to speculate on how you get a negative regular classic reward...

I'm sorely tempted to buy it just to see what happens...? If Qantas need to cancel it, do they pay me the cancellation fee? 🤔

Can you buy the negative CR by itself (one-way), or only as part of a mixed cash/reward return ticket?
