The next house was rather strange. But first their neighbour had something unusual outside their fence for this time of year - a flowering agapanthus.

Now the remarkable thing about this garden is that most of the work is done by a fellow in a wheelchair.

It was a bit of a walk back to the last 2 houses I would be visiting. A collection of different buildings and gardens on the way.

I find that style of architecture with the round bay window room really fascinating
He or she must have been the ‘starchitect’ of the area for their times.40’s-50’s?? Any intell @drron ?
Well similiar buildings around Launceston are called Post War Modernist in style. There are quite a few.Nothing on these particular examples.

Back to the TR.
Saturday and I made my way to the Trevallyn Nature recreation area. Certainly a variety of recreation facilities available -cable hang gliding, archery, horse riding, mountain bike tracks, walking tracks and quite a few picnic areas. More of that later. On the way there I stopped at the Freelands look out at the top of Trevallyn.Good views but the trees are quite tall.

An old ferry and other vessels.

The ferry has an interesting history.

It started life in the early 1950s as a car ferry on Hong Kong Harbour, the Man On. It was converted to passengers when the Hong Kong tunnel opened. When the Tasman Bridge in Hobart collapsed when hit by the Lake Illawarra in 1975, the Man On was brought to Hobart as a passenger ferry and re-named the Harry O'May. Needed a lot of work to make it safe and sutable!

It was later used as a ferry on the Bruny Island run until 1991. Later purchased and refitted as a trans-Tamar fery Beauty Point to George Town. Failed in that and has been derelict since the late 1990s.

With the Batman Bridge already operational no wonder a Beauty Point - Georgetown ferry failed.

Next it was off to the Hoo Hoo hut where a few trails start. First off on the Trevallyn dam trail with a detour to the Deadman's Hollow lookout.
DSC07971.JPG.

The trails were rated moderate difficulty. In fact they were very easy. Though a recent obstruction at the start.

After that just occasional glimpses of the river. But quite a few native cherry trees with some fruit beginning to ripen.
