Sunday we went back to the Waterfront Hotel at Beauty point. I had booked on Thursday but when we arrived there apparently was no booking.fortunately new phones keep a record and I was able to show I had rung them 3 days before so they popped in an extra table for 2

Mrsdrron had the salmon which was undercooked. I had the seafood basket. Te seafood was just right apart from really thick batter on the fish.As well a bucket load of chips which we couldn't finish.Washed down with a local Swinging Gate Pinot Gris which was nice.

We went back to Launceston the long way. As we were driving the hotel rang and asked why we hadn't turned up for our reservation. When i had booked I thought the woman who answered was a little slow but she had been able to change Ron to Paul.

We felt like desserts so stopped at the Hillwood berry farm. A huge space with a small cafe and gift shop. You can also pick your own berries though they say eating the berries on the farm is verboten. That is probably as difficult to police as many States covid rules.

20211114_140620.JPG.

We had their berry "pavlova".

And the Cornwall hotel. The original cornwall Hotel was built in 1824 by John Pascoe Fawkner. as well as a hotel he ran a bakery from here and started Launceston's first paper. He was also a lawyer who represented convicts. It was believed to be Tasmania's oldest brick building.

It was here in 1834 the meeting was held which led to the foundation of Melbourne. In the 1860s it was the meeting place for the Anti transportation League as well as the meeting place for the Launceston council. The building though was pulled down and rebuilt in 1905.
