Another afternoon I discovered this place.
DSC07388.JPG.

Quite a few orchids with lots of glossodia.
DSC07370.JPG.DSC07371.JPGDSC07371.JPG.
DSC07372.JPG.

And some caladenia.
DSC07373.JPG.
.

Hardly a pristine environment.
DSC07375.JPG.
DSC07379.JPG.
But some views to the mountains in the east.
DSC07378.JPG.

And it is next to the Carr Villa cemetery.
DSC07380.JPG.

But I am here for the orchids.
DSC07376.JPG.
DSC07381.JPG.

And that orchid is in this collection of leaves.

Looking through pages of your lovely photos at a quiet time at work at 2:30am is probably best avoided. I don't think there are any bakeries open at the moment. Almost all the food looks absolutely delicious - including the vanilla slices!

And the last few pics of the Carr villa reserve. Not all small flowers are orchids.
DSC07383.JPG.
DSC07386.JPG.DSC07387.JPG.

But some are.
DSC07385.JPG.

A recent burn off.Next year should see a better show of orchids here.
DSC07384.JPG.

So a little about my current residence.those who have seen it would realise it is different. However the garden has nice splashes of colour.DSC07389.JPG.20211024_114121.jpg.
20211024_113940.jpg.
20211024_114014.jpg.

The rhododendron in full flower but with the winds today stripped bare.
20211024_113920.jpg.

And the ground under this shrub looks like snow this afternoon.
20211024_113955.jpg.

But the piece de la resistance is the view from the front bedroom.
20211024_192708.jpg.

On Sunday I move to Trevallyn. A short walk to the local bakery with their nice scallop pies. And the views just a little different.

Will this be your final taswegia abode ?
YES !!! Ron is here until his contract ends in Feb. And I will still fly in and out, hopefully without all of the hassle of borders slamming shut at the hint of a sneeze. We have all fingers and toes crossed that our son, DIL and 3 grandkids will join us for Christmas ! ❤️❤️
I have the matching t shirts at the ready 😆 ( I have made the family dress up in matching outfits since our son was a baby - so they should know it is coming !! )

..sigh… Xmas..sigh..
Cellar dwelling family are booked for the GC as are we… the daily Qld news cycle leads me to go from hope to despair.
They have had such a difficult time down there and it will be very disappointing if Ap pulls the plug at the last minute

..aaah .. but he won't be alone.. he has (drum roll) RRRRrroooooflyer….😁😁

Another afternoon I went to another good spot for orchids.Though as the years pass there is less diversity. It is on the road to the casino. It was to be a school site but it was canned and has been left alone.Unfortunately lots of garden waste dumped their with invasion of foreign plants. On top of that some have turned tracks into mountain bike tracks.
20211025_150609.jpg.

But some orchids survive and some are thriving.
20211025_150358.jpg.20211025_150450.jpg.
20211025_150458.jpg.

Now I walk around with my eyes to the ground so i didn't notice the kookaburra.Walked right underneath it. Gave me a bit of a scare. but he only flew to the next tree.
20211025_150817.jpg.

Also Glossodia and caladenias but much less numbers now.
20211025_151438.jpg.
20211025_151509.jpg.
20211025_151934.jpg.
20211025_152151.jpg.

I found one area where the small orchids - I think of the corybas species - have virtually taken over.
20211025_152401.jpg.
20211025_152321.jpg.
20211025_152347.jpg.

But also some funghi and native violets.
20211025_152442.jpg.
20211025_152943.jpg.
20211025_152958.jpg.

Unusual art.
20211025_153638.jpg.
20211025_153149.jpg.
20211025_154640.jpg.
20211025_154353.jpg.

And just for @JohnM Tasmanias relative of the WA sandalwood. Exocarpos cupressiformis or the Tasmanian Native Cherry.Very nice eating ripening ~ December,January.Found nearly everywhere.
20211025_153728.jpg.

One ripening already.
And the view from the property - the second green of the Casino golf course with the third fairway running alongside the homes.
20211025_155036.jpg.

And back to the Carr Villa Reserve one afternoon.less orchids than 10 days ago but more species.
20211027_143835.JPG.
20211027_145720.JPG.

Glossodia have a single long leaf. for caladenia the leaf is much shorter.
20211027_145748.JPG.

Also a group of greenhoods.
20211027_145959.JPG.
20211027_150009.JPG.

They have 3 leaves.
20211027_150025.JPG.20211027_150052.JPG.
20211027_150309.JPG.

An orchid about to open. The leaf tells you it is a Glossodia.
20211027_150554.JPG.
20211027_150719.JPG.

And more helmet orchids Many more flowering today.
DSC07392.JPG.
DSC07393.JPG.
DSC07394.JPG.

Some evidence of why there might be lesser numbers today.
DSC07396.JPG.

Bandicoot holes. At this tree they weren't there 10 days ago.Bandicoots love orchid tubers.
But evidence that could point to a naughty 2 legged mammal might be collecting orchids.
DSC07391.JPG.

There were a lot of these small holes throughout the reserve.

Today it was time to move house.Talk about chalk and cheese. No cherubs on the ceiling. There is only a back door. You come in through the laundry. On one side is the second bathroom with a great shower.
DSC07397.JPG.

Yes 2 can shower at the same time. Next comes the kitchen and dining room.
DSC07399.JPG.
DSC07400.JPG.
DSC07401.JPG.
DSC07407.JPG.
DSC07408.JPG.

The views from the dining room.
