The "I am in self-isolation" thread

Yeah I just heard that from a friend in the UK. Probably a good move but feel bad for those it will put out of work.

Added to a long list of casualties. There's the obvious ones (retail, hospitality, travel etc.) and the not so obvious ones (contractors/self employed, getting pineapple'd by IR35 to have it reversed for a year at the last minute; too little, too late, the damage is already done and lots of people are already out of work and with projects likely being put on hold no chance of getting a new contract anyway).

Day 8. There's a new coronavirus survey:). Didn't ask for my bank account details so looks legit. This will fill in 7 minutes of your day...

I really feel for the people out there that are still working .
Apparently various systems eg Centrelink have fallen over and there is nothing but abuse .
What part of the "one hundred years happening " do people not get

Well we have been doing our self semi isolation.Only 1 restaurant a week, only to the supermarket +/- post office to pick up mail. One trip to HN as our printer died and this morning's trip to Bunnings for potting mix and bark chips in case they are forced to close.
But then received an urgent email.A nearby hospital had their physician having to isolate as was returning to Australia tomorrow.Current locum couldn't stat and advertising had no answers.
So a little reluctantly back in the saddle from Wednesday.Although not really proven I will take Plaquenil plus azithromycin whilst working as I am in my 70s.

Local swimming pool closed at 12 noon today. All the staff are young and most are casuals - some were in tears. I have now finished a streak of 89 days swimming since Xmas Day when the pool was closed. I very much hope that my non-swimming streak which starts tomorrow doesn't get anywhere near that but at the moment I am not optimistic.

Tomorrow my new walking program starts at 5.30 am for around 1.5 hours.

I'm not in self isolation but I decided to WFH today when ordinarily I wouldn't have. Only to find that today was the day the neighbours decided to dig the new foundations for the house they're building  They demolished the old house several months ago so their timing is exquisite.

A near neighbour tried WFH today for the very first time only to find that NBN were doing network updates and he had no service for 4 to 5 hours. Apparently it is our turn on Thursday but as we have a ‘smart’ modem we should still receive service via the mobile network.

It only feels like yesterday I posted This. 8 pages on and 3 days later I am still stuck at home and time for a career change. I am thinking about a netflix or stan reality series themed what happens when "a frequent travel is stuck at home" ;) o_O  :):)

Does your wife want you to travel? Your daughter? :p
I would suggest yes, we are not normally cramped up together for more than a couple days week in/ week out. Holidays are different, we all agree to get along prior to travel.

You've just lost your job. You have a family to feed. Rent/mortgage to pay. Wonder if you will get sick. Relaxed doesn't come to mind.

The way we see it we have a responsibility to our staff, to our suppliers and to our customers. We remain open and we have modified our procedures to keep our staff and customers safe.
We will continue to pay all our suppliers on time or ahead of time because we can. This is a time where honesty and reliability is super important.
We get out of our self /State imposed 14 day quarantine in a week.
Mrscove still seems nice......our sons have been classified into “essential services”.......they seem nice too........
We are checking to see if we need a pneumonia booster shot as well as flu shots in a week.....

Day 1: unpacked. Multiple loads of washing. Gardened. Put off mowing the yard until tomorrow.

Organised Mstr Scarlett's learn from home primary school schedule: maths, reading, PE (backyard cricket and some kicking the footy), spelling, writing, geography and some basic Bahasa Indonesia. Art will be a problem as my talents extend to very rubbish stick figures...

Anyone know if 'tracking status for multiple FF programmes via spreadsheet' is part of the year 2 curriculum? 😁 Might get him to update his Flight Tracker map during one of the geography lessons seeing as he's now been to 38 countries.

Could be interesting to see what comes out of this. I think this whole period of time will change largely how the workforce operates, lots of organisations will realise that people can work just as effectively when remote and reduce travel, ratio of people:desks etc.
