The "I am in self-isolation" thread

We do have to maintain a sense of humour when we are cut off. I don’t think we could handle months of confinement
Now we do have those titanium bladed 3M scissors as well as the Wilshire Stay Sharp knives but we have 3 levels we can hide out.
I was told the Stay Sharp knives are the most popular....Haven’t needed to hide any of these so far.
After almost 50 years she still seems nice........

Thanks to @cove I do have a Wiltshire bar-b-mate, as it starts to warm up here and the sun comes out I will definitely be trying to put it in use!

B-b-b-but is she still saying the same about you to her friends... 🤔😜

I have successfully sliced my fingers numerous times with stay sharp knives :)

Day 6. Fired up the mower with $1200 worth of new cutter deck, and it went like a breeze for ½ hour. Then cutter deck came loose with extreme prejudice. Day 8 I will be calling the mower shop again to take the wreckage away. If it means more parts I will be unisolated before the lawn is done.

Highly successful remote control shopping expedition in which both pork chops and rice were successfully procured. And - the TP holy grail! :D Possibly Peter Dutton has scared off the buzzards from Brisbane.

cheers skip.

All calm here today @JohnM .
We watched the Fremantle Dockers seize defeat from the jaws of victory together.
We are getting good at doing nothing much but have the exercise bike out in the sunlight.
I am not supposed to go for a bike ride so the exercise bike is almost ok.

Did you notice tackling was a bit more hands off'y than normal?

With the virus they have become quite titchy.
The pool, gym and theatre are closing and you have to go to the reception to pick up food deliveries. They get 400 a day
We were there for 3 nights and then bailed.
Qatar was really good...booked Sunday and left Monday as we could see a big lockdown was imminent

I think chunks of Australia will be getting shut down in the next fortnight as too many seem to be thinking it is a joke. Judging by the beach crowds I think we have a problem that could get worse once the season changes.

As I have been pointing out to people that I've been chatting with today as they ask me about my isolation experience, right now I'm a few days ahead of them given how poorly the public response to social isolation seems to have been. I predict a very widespread isolation order in not the not too distant future. The likelihood of this ending after 14 days is sadly deteriorating by the day.

Day 12 ...

Pretty much normal, although no paid work effort. Slept in to 8am.

I do see May 15th approaching, so went to do some more on the 2018-2019 tax year. That didn't last long as my main PC decided it did not want to boot, having a bootstrap loader error. Some scrambling and found a Win 10 ISO DVD. Used that to repair.

So thus encouraged I decided to ensure I had current backups of everything, local and on Dropbox (thanks @nlagalle ). With that done, my enthusiasm for 2018 tax waned - next week!

A bit more excitement as SWMBO manged to slice herself slightly on a food processor - mildly, although much blood eventually stifled with some Elastoplast adhesive strips.

I decided to move my WFH environment out of the living area and to a spare room; the former was originally temporary and had worked OK but some phone conference clashes yesterday made clear the need to be more isolated.

Watched some footy this evening; it was not so strange watching a Giants game at an empty stadium. They looked a pretty good football team; so did the Cats for that matter.

I have ascertained my "semi-official' isolation ends after Monday; may pop in at the office Tuesday to try to fix some remote access issues but looking to WFH after that.
