Very late to this trip report as we are travelling France.
But thoroughly enjoyed it and it brought back lots of good memories. But we did not get to Belfast and will add it to our list.
Thank you for sharing.

Thanks - not sure I'm going to fit in Ireland this trip but made me resolve to do another couple of weeks in a car there some time

Thanks for an entertaining TR.
Just one mistake. That AY salad had half a tomato in it.A neil Perry salad would never have such a bright colour in it!

Thanks - that tomato was the highlight of the salad. Are interesting and tasty salads really that hard or expensive to make?

Well that was a very enjoyable write-up! I have enjoyed your opinions & picked up some very useful hints

I really need to do that Titanic experience. We are cruising with an Irish couple plus four others from Canada. They are all raving about Ireland.

I enjoyed the Titanic Experience more than I thought I would, as evidenced by the time (over 5 hours) we spent there. However, I was fascinated by the very well explained social history of the dockyard and the heavy engineering context which may not interest everyone. The building and displays are very well thought out and the staff are exceptionally helpful and friendly.

I enjoyed my holiday there but I am sorry to say that I would not rave about Ireland. It may have been the depressing weather, but it is not on the first rank of places I wish to revisit.

I agree about the weather impacting on a place. Helsinki and Copenhagen were perfect because of the weather. This is Oslo today

Fantastic trip report-I am heading to Europe in 3 weeks and will be in Ireland in 5 weeks. As another Perthite I have been looking forward to escaping the cold and hoping for some sunshine, a bit optimistic for Ireland though :). Great information, particularly for the driving as we will be doing a similar trip minus the northern section. Huge thanks for the effort.

Thank you - I do a lot of itwhile I was watching the Tour de France on the TV and it is good to know people enjoyed it.

Absolutely enjoyed it and helped shape my travel plans over the near future, good on ya !!

Thanks for those kind words Megajda & Craven. And Megajeda, I am sure you always allow extra time for a trip compared to what Google Maps etc say. But allow for a lot more time once you get off the main highways in Ireland.

Pushka - exactly - good luck for better weather.

2 years ago, we were in Dublin for a week in late April followed by a weeks' drive around Ireland...Gallway, Coonemera National park, Cliffs of Moher, Dingle, Great Basket Island, and Killarney. We also did a separate day bus trip to Belfast and Northern Ireland...apart from the day we drove the Ring of Kerry road, and the day we drove back to Dublin from Killarney when it bucketed down and was very cold, gloomy and wet, we were blessed with fantastic weather and loved Ireland; hence, we would love to go back one day....so yes I think the Irish weather does have a major impact on your enjoyment of your trip!! Thanks for the trip report as it brought back fond memories!

We were in Ireland late Oct last year, and I agree the weather can put a damper on things, but we only had one day of drizzle. Dublin is super friendly, and one you have a glass of Guinness in Ireland, it is impossible to drink it anywhere else. We found Dingle was amazing and the drive up along the west coast on the Wild Atlantic Way was breathtaking - and really worth it. One thing I had to watch out for, was on the back roads there are no cautionary signs about how tight a corner would be until you arrived at the corner - a few tense moments with my better half.
