The Lounge 1stAug - changes to access and pricing (including Priority Pass Access)

Confirming that our Gold members have 'anytime access' to our owned and operated Lounges.

Note that a Gold member that is travelling (departing, then arriving) would have priority over Golds not travelling.

Entry on arrival and 'anytime access' is an "unwritten benefit".

We recognise that there are going to be those times when you may be at the airport dropping someone off or meeting someone, and could do with a far better quality coffee than the food court - think of our Lounges as your 'airport havens'! :)

I really do think it would be worth making this a "written benefit" as many people were disappointed by Qantas chooses to drop anytime access.

Then its open for people to abuse. Which is not whats intended. This is more a good will gesture me thinks.

Were that many Qantas platinum members actually driving all the way to the airport for free alcohol and food? lol

Good point, Liam.

In the early days of Ansett's Golden Wings program, which had anytime Lounge access, yes that did happen, especially on weekends. And I thought I was set for life when I bought lifetime Golden Wings Membership for A$500.

Ohhh. So now the real reason why AN went bust has been revealed.

Well, I do know of companies that would do things like book meetings at the Mascot Office

Gentlemen, please remove yours posts before Virgin Australia remove our Anytime Access ;)

*kiss* *kiss* *kiss*

Nice to have this confirmed... now when I am broke at end of month, I will stop at the airport for my morning coffee ;)

Shame about that small problem of the car parking costing you more than the coffee's worth.

Ahhh... we have our ways *touching nose*

;)

Don't think I'd drive out 20 minutes in wrong direction for a coffee though anyway - but often picking up people/dropping off or even sometimes meetings at airports - nice to know I can grab a coffee..

Hmmm - can we guest people in with Anytime Access?...

Removal of Single Visit Passes and Priority Pass Access.

:)

Just as well I'm not renewing my PP membership then (why would I when DC now has many more lounges, and I'm also Star, Qantas and Emirates Gold?).

DJ seems to be starting to price itself out of the market, with what is still quite an ordinary offering. They seem to be pushing me towards Qantas more and more.

If anyones wanting to join the DJ Lounge, I've got a private special for a limited number of memberships that is quite cheap compared to their best deal, happy to extend it to AFF'ers if there's any left.

QF Gold is dearer to achieve than DJ Gold domestically so how does that equate to pushing you to QF? Of course they are pricing themselves out of the market if you are comparing paid versus comp'd offerings!

Half the staff of SYD Qantas jet base were golden wings members and used to turn up for breakfast before starting work, also very popular for drinks after work.

Just out of curiosity, why has the statement regarding Priority Pass access been removed from the DJ website?

It was originally located at Entry & Access | Virgin Australia , but it has now disappeared from this page... The PP website also makes no mention of it, whereas the notice of access changes for Priority Pass Select members for the United lounge in Melbourne has been there for months...

These days Flight Attendants aren't permitted to be anywhere near where alcohol is served. Which rules out lounges.

Back to Qantas I go then, the removal of Priority Pass access is the final straw! With such a limited number of lounges, I won't make the effort to either purchase or increase my status with Virgin.

I will make a few more flights on QF to achieve Gold status again with them, and get free lounge access and sit back and enjoy QF for pretty much the same price or less

Bye Virgin!

I think Virgin should finish rolling out their new cabins and proposed lounges/updated lounges before moving to premium pricing, which is how it appears. As far as the new lounge T&C's go, children under 12 should be banned. Lounges are for business travel not private club crèches.
