The Master SQ Guide (Krisflyer, Waitlists & Waitlists Clearing)

the second seat will be available in my experience as Advantage
Excellent:) thank you, will book today:) I still dont understand which times/dates (other than school holidays)/time in advance flights are generally avaiaible , but from recent news ive read about availaiblity being horrible, its a huge surprise to see so much availablility on random routes i Look at

It should be available but you could try phoning to book to be sure.
i will do that :)

also another question, ive looked at F,
when I do japan to Melb, it says no flights available for the entire month of may, but if I do singapore to melb, there are scatters of avaiaiblity in F,

has the system changed, but I thought the system would show a mixed class if not available eg Japan to Sing in J, and Sing to Melb in F

The system does not show mixed class award bookings - just mixed class revenue bookings. I wouldn’t bother with F from MEL and do the rest in J. That’sa lot of extra points to upgrade that one sector.

Question for the experts please,
trying to book 2 x oneway, J from Japan to Melb in May 2024

If I search for 1 pax, on a random bunch of days literally every flight of the day is avaialbe in saver and advantage

but when I do 2 x pax, virtually all saver columns disappear while advantage is aviable everywhere

does this mean, its only 1 seat per flight available or the system doesnt want me to book 2 pax at the same time.
ie can I/should I do separate bookings?
I agree with what others have said and will add that I have a booking NRT - MEL (28 Apr) which I made as soon as bookings became available. Even then saver seats for 2 people were only available on 2 or 3 days of the week.

yeah i just had a look, JPN to Melb in J Saver - 100,500miles, whilst a multi JPN to Singapore in J- 52k + Singapore to Melb in F- 93.5k Total: 145.5k points, a difference of 40k points, if it was the new suites i would uprade them but I believe theyre all/most 777/a350

P.S but if i book a multi sector using in saver JPN-Sin in J saver, Sin to Melb in F Saver VS Jpn-Mel in Advantage J wouldnt the points requirements virtually be only 10k or so odd different?

Only you can know what would work for you. If I were planning a trip for two people, that would be on the same flights in the same cabin. But yes, if you have a choice of a saver in F and an advantage in J then the price difference for that one passenger would be relatively small. You are just highlighting what poor value advantage fares are.

thanks for the help, even though ive booked like 6 redemption flughts over the years, ive only gone for straight fwd flights, so all these tweaks/options are all still new to me

It's my pleasure.

My first ever redemption in 2007 was a first class itinerary EDI-LHR-SIN on BD and SQ. When I tried to book the cook two days before I travelled, I found that my flight had not been ticketed by BD. I was distraught but wise heads on Flyer Talk helped me to retrieve the situation and I ended up flying on the flights I had booked. Since then, I have tried to use my own experiences to help others with their awards - just as I continue to learn from others' experiences.

thats a very stressful experience, maybe these things dont happen any more, but from the news i hear about qantas, its an every day occurance

I love singapore air, theyre amazing!

but you are 100% about advantage being very poor value, i almost seeing it as paying 20-30% more in cash at a car dealer or a phone shop:)
but im learning, slowly

I am not sure if i would have the patienece or willingess to do a RTW redemption

I have never done one on SQ. One day maybe.

you guys were right, I gave SIA a call, and they did confirm that for all the flights, (eg the 8 or so per day) each flight only had 1 x saver and 1x advantage seat, so I booked 2 separate, 1 x saver and 1x advantage, all very easy,

admittedly i have been a bit reluctant to call them directly as my past exeperiences i got different answers each time,

great idea!
unfortuantely due to expiring miles, wait list isnt going to work

if its only 1 seat per flight and ibook in saver, is there a huge risk that a 2nd seat even in advantage wont be availalble?
The order is:
  1. Book the available saver
  2. Waitlist the second saver on the same flight
  3. Book the advantage (if sufficient miles available) and upon/if confirmation of saver/waitlist - get the CC guys to swap
This has worked a few times for me ensuring all 3 iin our family are together on the same flight. Cheers

Should be the Asia leg - I think. There are at least 2 J saver available to SIN ex Mel cities during June/July 24. Europe (Brussels/Frankfurt etc) also showing 2 J savers at 130K points during June/July 24 for random dates

Hi Brains Trust, TIA for your help: I have booked a J (Flex) from MEL to VIE next week. On my return leg from MUC to SIN, my booking shows as confirmed, but I couldn't choose a seat as all seats are greyed out. What are the chances that I will indeed get a seat or am I likely to be booted out?

Whilst I do not know the answer I recommend the online chat (with a human) if/when you have to talk to them.

for the experts again,

im looking at a return flight preferebly J or F, Melb to Athens return,
Ideally, in a weeks time (yes laugh :) )
but if I try and look at availailibty in a years time, it doesnt even come up

am I doing it wrong, or does SIA not fly there?

SQ does not fly to Athens - you will have to find a creative route to get there using Star Alliance partners.
