The Master SQ Guide (Krisflyer, Waitlists & Waitlists Clearing)

Not a problem. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news - this deval (as well as points increase across the board) happened in July last year and many were caught unaware.
Definitely thrown a spanner in my 3/4 executed plans - to finalise the original plan I would need 63K top up points at $40USD / 1000

Now need to find a solution that the family will accept

Is there any way to transfer Krisflyer miles between family members?
Not without a significant devaluation/cut in amount unfortunately. The only way I can think of is to transfer them to VA (at a 1.55:1 ratio) with a family pooling setup active, then transfer from VA back to SQ (at a 1:55:1 ratio again).
So for example, consider a (healthy) SQ balance of 2,402,500 KF miles. Transfer these to VA and they turn into 1,550,000 Velocity points. Transfer these Velocity points back to KF and you're now at 1,000,000 KF.
In other words, that's a loss of 1,402,500 KF (or 58.38%).
Heavy loss to incur but if you're flush with points and need to extend their expiry it does provide an option.

Thanks @MathNerd

I had quite a few points but have just redeemed the majority on f awards to and from Europe and this was the last booking to make. The solution I’ve landed on is 2 x economy revenue fares from Oz to Sin, then 2 x J redemptions onto LHR.

I've had very mixed results lately when trying to 'marry- up' 2 individual available legs...Also mixed class bookings for me have been a real pain when it comes to pricing of miles...they wouldn't go with the award charts (even at higher class rate)and came up with mileage that was higher than the 2 individual rates..even after referring to 'supervisor')
I gave up and booked 2 individual legs on-line, cost me extra miles but was able to lock the booking away....
It used to be simple but for me the whole experience has turned into nightmare territory...
Hope your experience is better.......
Same issue when I rung the call centre to marry-up sectors (A->B->C) which were available by itself for 2X online Saver J redemption (A-B and B-C) with less than 24hrs layover in SIN. Went to a call centre in Phillipines and the agent refused to marry the sectors, escalated to a supervisor who also refused to marry up - and insisted on booking them separately.
Insisted that I had no issues in marrying sectors before if layover less than 24hrs (had read somewhere). Was kept on hold for 30 minutes while the supervisor sought advice - to come back and complete the booking. Very strange as these issues were fixable with just a call in the past. Either the policy has changed or the call centre guys are simply not up the mark.

I could however book 3 J saver (BLR to MEL) early Jan 24 - so that was some progress.

I went back to the beginning to try and work this out- apologies if I've missed the brief here.

Is the strategy for the SQ waitlist best as:
1. Book your flights in a fare class that allows refunds
2. Join the waitlist

In the event you clear and get a confirmed ticket, contact Singapore to back out the paid fare that was in place?

The question I have is, what if you have multiple legs? e.g. SYD-SIN-LHR. Each leg is a waitlist request but in the example, what happens if only SYD-SIN clears. Will SQ cancel just that leg or does your whole ticket need to be reissued to keep SIN-LHR and if so, are you then subject to the fare difference at the time?

Been rejected for a few waitlist of late so I wouldn't keep my hopes up if I were you.

I've just completed my first set of SQ flights under my KrisFlyer membership and have not received any points yet. The first flight was over three weeks ago. Website says it may take four weeks to receive points. Is this true? Seems very slow considering you get them within hours with other airlines.

Usually mine come through within hours and PPS value within a week. If you can submit a retroclaim, I would, it shouldn't take this long.

In terms of problems, is the exact name on your ticket matched to the exact name on your KF account (in terms of middle names)? Sometimes this can causes issues .... if the KF membership says "FIRST MIDDLE SURNAME", whilst the ticket only has FIRST and SURNAME, this can cause a mismatch. Perhaps.

Wow, thanks for that. I just went into their claims page and after digging through to get the ticket number (and removing the dash) I got an immediate email acknowledgement that my claim had been accepted. So it may have been the issue you mention.

I note they say the points have been added but the tally hasn't changed yet, that may take a while longer I assume.
I only submitted the outward flights as I only got back a couple of days ago so I guess I'll get a "hold your horses" note if I submit those. Might be worth a try though.

Is it possible to request to a waitlist to upgrade a revenue ticket (i.e. not to waitlisting a separate award booking and cancelling the revenue fare)?

Spoke to the call center today as I got an error when attempting to upgrade through the website (suspect because it is a mixed cabin fare) and they said not possible...

I can see waitlist reward "availablily" for the flight I am looking to upgrade.

I submitted a claim today and it said that the points had already been credited to another account! I'm assuming it means that my first claim has rectified the error and the points will come through to me anyway now. But will have to keep an eye on it.

Well I just found the other account my points had been credited to was my Velocity account! I booked this with SQ directly with my KF number not VA but on the original check-in in SYD the staff member put my Velocity status on the booking so I could use the lounges. That seems to have flowed on with the points and SCs. I hadn't checked my Velocity as I hadn't flown VA for a while. So when I did the original claim with SQ (see above) and got the points it seems I've managed a double dip which they may have picked up on the second claim.
I guess it doesn't matter really although I was trying to build up my SQ points. I do need the SCs to requalify as SG for VA so this will help.

I am trying to book redemption from Perth to Bangkok on business class. Of course, the saver and advantage are both waitlisted. Could I waitlist both and hope that maybe the advantage might come through? Cheers

A couple of quick questions...

If there is Saver availability for First/Suites, could I upgrade to First from a paid business fare (or are only certain fare classes upgradeable.) (Travelling to a conference, can book business but not first, have lots of points to burn).

If I arrive in Singapore in First, but then have a connecting Business fare on a route that doesn't offer first, can I access TPR on arrival?

Thanks to the brains out there.

You cannot upgrade your business class using Saver availability in First.
I would purchase the Saver First flight, but use your receipt for the business class paid seat to get a reimbursement from work. Then cancel the business class flight and pocket your refund. I don't have a moral issue with this as work is not spending any more and you are saving money and flying better.

You may use TPR even if just arriving in First.
