Possibly a lot of their customers like Dawn French? Magda has already pushed Jetstar and Jenny Craig.

Yes, it's going to cost more points to get the same reward. In theory it's supposed to be easier to get these points but it's not going to work for all members. I am also guessing there will be less triple points promotions and more double points promotions. I get most of my flybuys points from bonus points promotions, so I'm not exactly certain I will be better off under the new scheme.

Like everyone was surprised Flybuys rolled out Dawn French for the launch. Can you just imagine the discussion in the marketing department at fly-buys: We need a really big international star to kick off the new campaign, who should we get? Dawn French...

I remember 3 years she and Saunders came to Oz for a comedy tour. Out of curosity I looked at the ticket price and the cheapest was $100... Almost choked on my vomit. Seriously $100 dollars plus for some over the hill comedians. I don't know why all these artists think its ok to overcharge in Australia!

I am glad I am not alone. My first thought when I saw Dawn French was why do we have to have an overseas person promoting Flybuys.
I feel the same re Curtis Stone. Although he is Australian he lives in the USA now and his career is there.
I think Coles make a considerable mistake in not using Australian presenters.

Should Coles sell nothing but stuff made in Australia?

So here's what everybody's wearing in Coles this week... Standard issue for the launch of Flybuys Mk2 or is that now Mk3, I can't remember since there has been a few re-launches of their offerings with their so called "Enhancements"...?

Me, well I'm still with the EDR camp which I believe has much better offerings...

Saw Dennis got a gig too on 7 with the footy!
So midnight tonight the website online?

EDR is better if you get the targetted promos. For me that means really not much difference between programs as EDR just doesn't like me.With the much better earn rates with flybuys there now isn't much difference.I value a QFF point at 2-3cents.The new flybuys point is 0.5 cents.Seeing we would do a few smaller shops normally(until EDR came along) we can now go back to our old habits and not lose out.EG $35 shop is 5 EDR points,35 FB points.A win for EDR.

Actually I always redeemed for a gift card at 2500 points for a $20 card. Now it is 4000 points but with the better earn rates makes it much better value.

Saw the ads over the weekend - comments in our house were 'god she's lost a lot of weight'.

I dont understand the Buy5 thing - I would want a hell of a lot more than a 10% discount on 5 items to devote all of my shopping to Coles. Do you choose what is discounted? Is it automatically calculated at the checkout? If you buy 3 x 1 litres of milks for a few dollars vs a $25 packet of steak is it the milk that is discounted because you buy more volume.

I much prefer Coles for their prices, quality, range over Woolworths and only use Woolworths because there is one much, much closer to my house. This was a great opportunity to launch something completely fresh and new but instead they have attempted to revive a program with a terrible reputation for redemptions and added confusing 'benefits' that cant be explained during a 30 second ad.

A 5% store wide discount with a buy-1-get-1-free domestic flight after spending $x,000 each year would be far simpler and more attractive to me than a pointless points program.

So, assuming you earn 1 point per $1 spent, if I said to you I would give you a 0.8% discount if you started shopping at my supermarket, would you do it?

No, I didn't think so.

Like a trooper at midnight I saw the NEW website.
Typed in my Flybuys number and it wanted me to ACTIVATE my card? Edit: old info comes up and points converted to new program...they want email\date of birth of all attached.
Do I need to do this with the Coles Mastercard too? Edit: Not in FAQ...so will see if auto updated.
Not enough info on website...poor form!
This helped but had to SEARCH for it: https://www.flybuys.com.au/flybuys/content/about/flybuys-faq.html
Does each Flybuys card holder have to go through the 5 product thing, when cards are linked??????

So you haven't actually read the materials around the rebranding... The 5 special is well explained on the website and was explained after launch.

Depends on your supermarkets prices and range of goods. All else being equal yes I would.
We shop at Woollies-closest supermarket.
Coles-because of better prices, more local products and now because without targetted promos the EDR scheme is no longer a winner.
IGA and local deli for other Aussie/local products that neither of the majors have.

The reality is that they are requiring you to activate your account. Basically the t&c's have significantly changed, so they are getting your acceptance of the new program.

Not having seen a new card, I don't know if the number has changed.

I was initially quite interested, but unable to view the 5 item (availability) list until registered is a big turn off, as is the limited timeframe it's offered. I cant see myself saving enough to be worth switching from WW whose EDR offerings come reasonably regularly and have better stores where I live.
