The New Pier

Indeed very impressive makeover!
Just to compare, this is how the old Pier F section used to look like just a couple of months ago:

Probably the most depressing Flounge ever.

That dining room looks very nice! Finally a rival to the QF F lounge experience? I think QF still wins with views though...

NV champagne. Sniff. Surely one must drink nothing less than vintage ;)

Does look very swish though.

Today in four weeks time. Not that I am counting. But watch out for pix :p

Looks great, might finally venture out of my favourite HKG airport hangout "The Wing F".

It was my first time to the wing and the pier, and I have to say, not even in the same league, the Wing I thought was QF I business lounge feel, food whilst delicious, was sparse and limited in selection, lots more people, busy
The pier was quiet and relaxing space, 3 times the food choices , a far better space IMO

I tried it last night and it's seriously good.
They're still using the polyester napkins though, which is seriously naff.

I was in this lounge on weekend in the morning and then later in evening.

Had eggs benedict in morning which easily beat what was on offer in the Bridge. Inbound delayed in the evening and only had a few minutes so had a quick beer.

In my opinion lounge is OK but not worth going out of the way to visit. In the evening it felt like I was in a series of dungeons.

Currently switching between Qantas lounge and Wing.

I loved the Pier. Excellent dining area reminiscent of a quality club.

I was there very soon after it reopened, and also really liked the dining area. I was a bit surprised at how chilly the little resting alcoves were, though, and I'm not usually someone who feels the cold.

Maybe thats a regional thing - super cool aircond. Mind you - I'd rather be cool than too warm pre flight.

I was there this morning, or yesterday morning, my time zones are out of whack. Got there about 6.30am after a long hike from gate 3, but it made sense as my next flight was from 68 so I'd go past it anyway.
very quiet in the dining area at that time, but the lounge itself had a steady stream of people, the showers were all booked and I had to wait an hour for a foot massag - which was terrific.
i liked it a lot. Felt like a classy club. At least that's what I think an exclusive club would feel like.
didnt try showers or private rooms and I was quite full from Syd lounge and onboard so didn't eat much. Plus I was knackered from the walk!

I have a new favourite lounge! The Pier for me cuts it exactly right. Its like a cool (non airline) club. They won me as soon as Eartha Kitt came over the speakers purring 'I belong to Daddy' amongst other relaxing melodies.

Plenty of space, plenty of power points at each seat (tastefully hidden in a mock 'drawer' at each unit); nice soft furnishings and colour scheme; not trying to be anything except a relaxing environment. great pro-active drinks service; terriffic tucker - either sit down a la carte, or help yourself snack ('Pantry')

I think the restaurant at SYD QF F is probably better, but that's about the only think SYD gets in front, in my view. SYD QF F looks and feels like a great airline lounge. The Pier is just a great lounge.

The foot massage offered is great - its actually a bit more than that; start off with a neck and shoulder job, then the feet. Couple of ladies there - ?sisters? They said they were getting busier and busier as people realise that the Pier is worth the trip out to gate 63.

Entrance hall and main lounge area.

Many nice nooks; the (staffed) bar on the right.

Couple more general views

Menu and restaurant general. I was there about 3pm to 7pm and the lounge in general was reasonably quiet the whole time. Getting a bit busier towards the end.

I has smoked duck breast entrée, then wok fried tenderloin beef (seared; pretty raw in the middle of the chunks, the 'gravy' was a bit much); crispy rice wafers. Chilled poached pear dessert.

Just to finish - LH is the library (very many global papers) RH is The Pantry - self serve snacks.

Pier6.jpg

Its just like visiting granny's in your youth - all sorts of treats laid out on the table. In the fridge were many different ?preserved fruits? - didn't look close enough.

You could do some serious gluttony here, let alone the restaurant.

Dinner in the restaurant sure beat what Qantas was offering on QF30!!
