The Operational Upgrade Thread

Not sure but I cannot remember the last time there was an empty business class cabin on SYD-BNE flights and vv. Paid, award, points upgrades, op-ups? Who knows....

Well, my op-up drought continues.

I've flown SYD-BNE-SYD last week and SYD-BNE this week with no luck, school holidays or not.

I had 8 op-ups last year in total, 4 by this time in the year - but have only one so far this year, and that was on a 734 :(
Same flights, same frequency.

Fingers crossed for my BNE-SYD leg this Friday afternoon :)

Y - J on ASP - SYD flight on 13/7/11. Saw when I did OLCI in the morning that seat had changed from 4c to 2c. The lady in the lounge said "the manager has been doing random upgrades", which seemed a bit weird. You'd hope it because I was a WP on a fully flex ticket and it was a totally full flight - unless maybe there were a few of us? Still, that's two op ups in 7 months so far this year, all good.:)

Yesterday on QF 006 from FRA to SYD, had pre-selected 34A on -Y fare bucket, so was happy to select baulkhead and (old Y+) 2 seat configuration.
Got the red light at the SIN gate and was upgraded to 23J (Y+) for the SIN to SYD leg, in the old J class seats. :D

... in the old J class seats. :D
I must be getting on ...

"Old" J class seat?

That's Skybed MkI thankyou!

IMHO way better than any Qantas PE/economy seat, domestic "Millennium" seats, the horrid new 332 Business seats or even, Dreamtime seats.

Both wife and I CNS/HKG/CNS on CX, me in J her her in Y (she spends the rest in HK) anyways, on return flight said goodbye to her as I passed thru the early J boarding as she stood back in the Y queue, later retrieving my iPad from overhead locker I had this sixth sense, looked over the other side of the cabin and there she was bumped up to J waving to me with a big smile on her face!.

Got escorted to a new seat after boarding SYD-NRT yesterday.

Economy to Premium Economy.

Much appreciated. Thanks Qantas.
Goodness, you would have rattled around! The seat map was showing 5 of 32 allocated.

Those seated in business class skybed rows 23-26 were re-allocated either upstairs or forward into Zone A, leaving the entire section of 28 seats empty.

I thought I was the only one in the premium economy zone until I got up to go to the loo.

I worry about the fate of the SYD-NRT leg given the pending restructuring announcement.

As good as any for a WP - they tend not to oversell these flights so keep fingers crossed.

Got my first ever Op up on Wednesday ASP-MEL, there were quite few ppl who got one as the flight was very oversold apparently, as it's the only flight of the day to Mel and school holidays, makes sense. Having said that, that was my 13th flight in 3 weeks during this school holiday period, and no love anywhere else

Got an op-up earlier in the year QF21 Y+ to J and I was an NB! No such luck on the return QF22 though.

Now an SG. Hoping for an op-up next Sunday QF31 to LHR. Anything is better than Y!
