The Planespotting/General AV Geek Thread

A bit of nostalgia (for my flying days anyway), flew this bird Manchester to Sanford (US) back in 2003. Best part of the flight was condensation dripping down on us on descent into Sanford.

Not a super photo, but one that checks a bunch of boxes :).

From the back:

* Presidents Kennedy, Johnston and Nixon's Air Force 1

* The third 787 built;

* BA Concorde

* A nicely gift-wrapped Boeing B-29 Superfortress, ready for Fedex to pick up and deliver to your door!

Tell Fedex it's OK to leave on the front doorstep if I'm not home:p.

That means that B787 airframe 1 is the one gone or going to Japan.

Check out LBJ's Stetson hat holder in the AF1.

Hi all
I have to apologise for the total stuff up by me with the above pictures.
I have yet to learn to insert pictures so that they line up one under the other. I cant get them to move in edit even using the alignment drop down.

Just watched EY454 an A380 go around at SYD from ~200 feet. EDIT: FR24 now shows it holding over Penrith.

Looks like other airlines are also doing retro paint jobs. Here is a Garuda 737-800 with a pre 1970 paint job. Retro experience also included a retro stair ramp and remote parking location. Not sure if airlines like Garuda can invoke a positive feeling about their history. When I first saw it I thought 'Oh cough, what am I about to fly on'. Sorry for poor photo.

AA have really gone gangbusters on the retro liveries lately. To the point that I think they may have done one for about every airline in their history.

This is an Air Calédonie ATR72-500 (not to be confused with Air Calin, the international airline). I took the pictures on the tarmac at ILP. The pilot was very nice, since there was virtually no wind and he could land from either end of the runway he did a complete scenic flight around l'Île-des-Pins before landing.
