The Planespotting/General AV Geek Thread

Harvey, I have been to a few CBR open days (inc this one, great photos btw) and consistently the Airport Corp fails badly to manage anything particularly well.
I was waiting with you to rush the aircraft at 9:30 when the gates opened and still only got to see onboard one (lines were over 2hrs by 10am).
I considered posting an AFF meet up but had family in tow. Maybe next year we should arrange a meeting point.

I think there almost needs to be a limit on the number of people they allow to the open day, perhaps via some sort of pre-registration system, either for each aircraft or for access to the event full stop.
I know it kinda goes against the idea of an "Open day", but the "line ride" isn't exactly the fun way to spend the day either.

Nothing that special about these two other than the fact these pics were taken literally 2 minutes apart...

A coupe of pics from AMS.

The very end of the "D" gates is fabulous for spotting - basically at the end of two runways and good views of a/c queueing to take off and start of takeoff rolls.

I have a memory as a little fella spotting a Singapore airlines liveried Concorde whilst transiting through Singapore on my way to the UK. Quite exciting as a youngster so the memory stayed with me.

Just did a bit of googling and it seems they only ran the service 3 times until Malaysia cancelled over flight rights so lucky to see it.

Interestingly it seems a US airline ran a sub-sonic Concorde shuttle service between Washington, D.C. and Dallas for a while utilising the aircraft downtime between Atlantic services.

Thought I'd throw up some images of the Planes of Fame Airshow at Chino airport, north of Los Angeles. If you like these posts, let me know - there are 2 more days of airshow to go!
