The pointless pathetic penny pinching that pushes away customers thread

Minor cost cutting but noticeable to me, on a LAX -SYD flight last week the plastic cutlery in Y seems to have been replaced by a very flimsy set - I was using it tentatively in fear of the fork breaking. When asking for a second coffee after breakfast I was expected to remove rubbish from my old cup and reuse it, I got a very disdainful look for having the nerve to ask for a fresh cup.

it seemed that the previous brochure type menu for the flight has been replaced with a single page menu on much cheaper paper. In flight snacks disappeared and replaced by a snack bag handed out at the start of the flight, not a bad thing but the pocket pizza or ice cream I've had previously were quite welcome.

they really are minor but I noticed the difference between SYD-LAX and eight weeks later LAX - SYD.

Which is similar to other Y offerings on that route, and would be understandable (ie. race to the bottom) but QF still purports to be a premium airline and charges accordingly.

Your reused paper cup example (more the disdainful look than the cup itself) is the type of experience that has even QF WPs looking elsewhere for a better option.

Even American Airlines recognises flexibility is important to their Platinum/ExPlat.
On cheapest possible econ non-flex tickets they are more than happy to let people change to earlier flights free of charge.

Not only that, within reason change routing at no cost, had a flight DFW-SFO-LAX (with an overnight meeting in SFO), only have to ask at the DFW Admirals Club and no problem to put me onto the DFW-LAX direct flight when the SFO meeting was canceled.
