The Qantas Newbie Questions Thread

I have a colleague flying from SIN-SYD on QF. The website help section sends you round in circles, but nowhere can we find the lounge pass purchase page. Please help.

Are also pay per use lounges in SIN

I'm unsure if this is the correct thread for this question: does the QF-NZ codeshare agreement still exist? If so, how do you book a domestic NZ flight (operated by NZ and not JQ) via the QF website?

When I search for AKL-WLG, it asks me to pay with points. I tried using the multi-city tool, but that only allowed selection of JQ flights.

You can only book certain domestic NZ flights (usually regional) when connecting from an international QF service. You cannot purchase domestic NZ flights by themself through QF/as a codeshare except as Classic Rewards (which won't be the QF codeshare anyway).

Thanks for the quick reply @encryptededdy.

I assume that this is also the case with the multi-city tool?

As part of the partnership, we couldn't add our QF number to an NZ flight bought separately (in part due to being in different alliances)?

The multi-city tool may help, but again the domestic leg must be connecting to/from a Qantas international flight.

You cannot add your QF number to a NZ flight unless you're booked on the QF Codeshare.

Does anyone have any tips and tricks for traveling economy on the QF1/QF2, i.e best seating that isn't paid for, T90, Singapore airport hacks etc. Thanks!

For QF2, eat at LHR prior to your flight, skip the dinner service and try to go to sleep ASAP. If you can, same again for the SIN-SYD leg. Your future self will thank you when you’re battling that 5.10am arrival feeling.

skip the dinner service and try to go to sleep ASAP

Agree with this, but bring snacks as it'll be about 10-11 hours before the breakfast service.

I'd also recommend limiting sleep on the first leg to 5-6 hours to give the best chances of a good sleep on the SIN-SYD leg (sleeping well on that second leg is far more important than the first leg IME)

A small dose melatonin before boarding the second leg also works wonders.

J/F pax - go straight to Qatar lounge.
How crowded are the showers at the Qatar lounge?

I've found that the QF F showers aren't too crowded before QF2 departs to SYD, but maybe it's my confirmation bias.

I'll be flying QF1 in J in October and I'm wondering if it's better to skip the QF F lounge entirely...

How crowded are the showers at the Qatar lounge?
IIRC There's two showers male, two showers female, and one unisex shower. The annoying thing is rooms are combination toilet/showers so people will hog them even if they're just using the toilet. Additionally, there are no paper towels just a cloth towel, so after someone uses the bathroom and washes/dries their hands you have to wait for the attendant to replace the towel before you can go in.

Last time I went there was a ~15min wait since both showers were occupied so I had to wait for someone to finish. I really think the showers should be all unisex and all separated from the toilets.

If I may ask please, can I add my QFF # if I book EK, QR CX not codeshare @encryptededdy ?
EK: Earn Points only (I think all fares but not 100% sure)
QR, CX: Earn Points and Status credits, but only on some fares classes
