The Qantas Newbie Questions Thread

Just wondering if anyone knows whether the end date that's stated on the "membership year" section in the Qantas app is inclusive of the last day.

I'm 5,000 points short of retaining Points Club and I'm flying on that day so the earn should get me over the line.

Do points earned on that day count towards retaining Points Club? And do status credits earned on that day count towards retaining status? I want to retain my highly prestigious Silver...
Flights are certainly credited for the day of travel. If you fly 1159pm on 31 July, the flights will be credited for that day, even if they post at a later date.

Yes, the end of the month is up to 11:59pm on that date. SCs and PC earn will be back dated even if credited post the date.

Yes, but
  • Make sure you haven't hit the 20k point limit for points from flights
  • If it's a non-QF flight, it may take some time to credit. You should still retain Points Club when it's credited though
  • The date is based on local time of where you took off

Yes it is inclusive of the last day of the membership year. Mine ends 31/01/2025,
My Account states: You just need to earn xx,xx_ more points on or before 31 January 2025.

Do some Emirates flights with Qantas numbers not earn SC?

Usually earned SC on this route and the outbound shows 60sc, but not the inbound.

No - you'll earn as if it was a Qantas flight. Just another IT blunder that they don't all present accurately here.

Cheers,
Matt

Im sitting here ar SYD lounge and noticed QF5 SYD - PER on the boards, wonder why they have it up here.

I hope the message on the board was along lines of "see staff"
“Run”! 😳

I do have a vague recollection of seeing “domestic” leg international flights on the boards in the past.

It actually does beg the question why they don’t have a QFi dep board for connecting PAX and direction to make you way to international transfer bus.

Flying SYD-MEL (arrive 6pm), connecting to MEL-NRT (dep. 9am next day). Same ticket, all on QF.

Will my bags check through and be held at MEL overnight, or will I have to look after my bags in Melbourne and redeposit the next day?

It's a question you really be asking when you initially check in in syd.

If you see the print out of the baggage sticker it'll say also, no?

Well yeah, but I'd like to know beforehand as it affects what I pack into each bag. I'd prefer to check it through, but if I can't then I won't bother putting certain items in my carry-on.

When are you flying? I will be landing in MEL tomorrow - I can ask QF staff.
