The Qantas Newbie Questions Thread

I have recently minted Qantas Club status as I have made PC+. Looking to book SYD-sin on Awards on AA or AS points. There's option to go via MEL, PER, or BNE. Which QF international business lounge is best between the 3 cities? Thank you.
MEL - just because you may have a chance of being guested into the F lounge

Ah, would love to be guested to F.... But I will be travelling with my better half and 2 kids. So I don't think anyone can guest all of us, or my wife will kill me if I go to F myself and leave them 😅

Which international J lounge is the best between MEL, PER and BNE?

With all that, BNE is better than MEL. I have not experienced the PER (International) lounge.

One caveat is the Dom.-Int. transit at BNE requires a bus,

Totally agree with this. BNE in terms of the premium lounge bests out the dungeon or the PER transit lounge. (Although the burgers in the transit lounge are nice)

I’ve not been to either PER or BNE yet but from what I read here, they’re both better than either SYD and MEL (putting aside the opportunity for an “upgrade” to First).

BTW, the PER lounge is no longer the “Transit” lounge but called the Perth International Lounge (noting some flights departing PER aren’t in transit.

PER lounge is also a dungeon albeit one with a sky light. I also thought they were hot dogs rather than burgers (glorified sausage in bread aka Bunnings). The QF website even called them "sausage sandwich".

Must have changed the menu. When I was through a couple of times May & June to hop to London, there was a lovely Filipino bloke doing burgers.

The food off the bbq varies in PER. It's also more than a skylight as it's actually open air the outdoor area with louvres that can close if the weather is bad. The PER lounge is definitely better than the MEL one by a long shot. I've not been to the BNE one.

I really like the guided stretching/mindfulness sessions they run.

BNE is pretty decent. Lots of light. And the bar staff are usually good banter.

Hey All, I have 2 qantas lounge invites to trade or give away that expire in Sept. But I can't post in that forum yet. Do I need to qualify first ?

To post in that forum qualification is needed.

Note you cannot trade them.

Is it possible to link 2 pax flying on the same physical metal but one has QF ticket stock and one has EK ticket stock.

MEL > SIN (QF)
SIN > MEL (EK)

I am trying to book a connecting flight from Perth to Ljubljana, Slovenia on Qantas.

There is the Qantas flight QF9 to London, Heathrow which lands at 5:00am in Terminal 3 (28th of September). Then there is a BA flight that leaves at 7:00am from Terminal 3.

I can book these flights separately but the concern I have is that 2 hours will not be enough time to grab bags and re-check in for the BA flight.

So I have three main questions.

1. Is it possible to request qantas to add the BA LHR -> LJU as a flight path that can be booked through the qantas website? I tried calling the phone number but they didn't think it was possible. There is lots of other connecting BA flights that are available from Heathrow, so I assume they just have to add as approved route?
2. Is 2 hours enough time to grab checked luggage and re-checkin? I have qantas gold, so might make things a little quicker but I suspect immigration is the time killer.
3. Is it possible to contact BA and request that the baggage gets checked through?

Appericate any help!

What do you mean by linking? For what benefit?

Are you using points or cash?
If points, you can book the itinerary yourself via the multi-city page (flight 1 would be PER-LHR, flight 2 LHR-LJU): https://www.qantas.com/au/en/book-a-trip/flights/multi-city.html
If cash, you should use a travel agent or OTA so both flights are on the same booking.
That way you can just transit in LHR, and two hours is plenty of time given you don't have to change terminals.
