And with that something involving as much flights/stops as possible as I want to plan more of a "journey rather than destination" itinerary this time.
Realistically on 50k points, you have extremely limited internation options for return trips. That's basically the lowest options available outside of New Zealand.

You'd probably need around 80k to be able to go around to other cities. As soon as you involve multiple airlines, the cost increases a fair bit. If you really want to have some sort of journey trip, I'd look at 134k one world award trip which can take you all over the world.
 
Probably more of an aviation geek question, but was thinking it would be nice to fly on VH-ZNJ (the B787-9 with the Qantas 100 livery) someday, particularly on the SYD-HND/HND-SYD route.

I don't have a sub to FR24 so can only access the past week's worth of data, but it currently looks like this particular plane has recently flown:

Plane's just been doing the QF25/26 route from 02 Feb to today (05 Feb) it seems.
So more of a curiosity question - has this plane flown other routes than the above lately?
 
For F upgrades, those are only available from J is that right?

Also for a QF2 flight with a lot of F availability, would it be a reasonable assumption that some people will do a J > F upgrade thus opening more J upgrades up?

Do not forget another source of pax can be standby and staff travel.
 
Hi guys, just wondering - if I book 2 unmarried award legs of CX flights using QFF points and the transit time is 3-4hrs apart, ie. as per below - would I be able to ask to have my luggage checked through to my final destination upon check-in (and thus have 2 boarding passes from MEL)?

ie -
Leg 1 - MEL > HKG in economy
and then
Leg 2 - HKG > KIX in business

Or, considering it's an unmarried, even though it's on the same PNR, HK immigration would expect me to clear customs / enter HK?

Would make it easier to transit in HKG without having to clear customs / immigration.

ok. and the website booking engine seemingly won't let you book MEL-KIX due to married segment control?

My route isn't MEL > KIX (only an example), but yes under the same hypothesis - if 2 separate CX legs are booked under the one PNR - if the time between the 2 flights is 3-4hrs, if baggage is able to be checked through to the final destination instead of having to collect / clear immigration.
 
Can I sue Qantas for misleading me this way? Can't believe it!

Sorry, I can't see what's misleading?

Its the standard Qantas FF redemption page, where it pushes out very expensive points+pay options, hoping punters will blow more points that they may need to, rather than realising they have to separately click the 'reward seats' button to get the cheaper options.

If they are on the same PNR, then yes you will be able to check through.

If an airline is applying married segment control and not allowing you to book them together, then they will not be able to be booked on the same PNR, and we are back to square 1, and it will depend on the policies of the airline as to whether they will allow you to through-check the bags, and generally you are up the creek without a paddle if there's a disruption and you miss the connection.

How many seats were you trying to book for. Sometimes this happens when there is only 1 seat but you are searching for 2 or more.
Yes, I was looking for 2 seats. Funny that I could not find any seats despite the Classic Reward badge being displayed on that day.
 
Hello, wasn’t sure exactly the best place to ask this. I am trying to fly Sydney to Busan (return) on oneworld airlines, ideally Qantas taking me the majority of the way (I want to be able to upgrade with points).

The most appropriate I have been able to find is Syd > HND (QF) and HND - PUS (JAL codeshare on Korean Air). Now I can book SYD <> HND and HND <> PUS separately but no matter how I try I can’t get both flights on the one booking. I have tried both JAL and QF websites, Amex Travel and even sky scanner. HND <> PUS doesn’t show up at all on anything but the JAL website, which I assume is due to JAL codeshare. If required I can fly JAL the whole way but even trying that would give me an error before the final page of the booking.

How would I go about having this booking all on one ticket?
