Correct, and I'd have to assume it's intentional design to award the equal number of SCs. The only differences I can think of are
  • Can't misconnect if you take QF1/2 the whole way through
  • Taking 292 would get you 4 Qantas sectors instead of just 2 for the status requirement
  • If using lounge passes, one lounge pass required vs. two
One vs two lounge passes? How come?

One continuing flight number each way. Rather than two seperate legs / flight numbers that each require a pass?

I saw that comment myself and thought that it’s handy to know if gifting passes to friends.

Yeah, from experience with giving friends lounge passes, one lounge pass will get you into both the SYD & SIN lounges on QF1. There's only one boarding pass (with "LPAC" on it) issued for the whole journey, so you can use it at both lounges.
 
Questions about the Qantas Sky Spritz for those that have had it...
1. By the name I assume it's Qantas' "signature drink" on their flights? Or do they have any others? I'm only somewhat aware of a few others like the Cathay Delight and JAL's Sky Time drink.
2. How would you describe its taste, or what sort of alcoholic drink it is? (I don't drink a lot of alcohol normally so I probably wouldn't be able to fully appreciate a cheap vs expensive wine or champagne for example)
3. The drinks menu mentions that it's "available on selected flights". On the QF flights that I have remembered to ask about it when flying in J, I've generally been told it's "no longer available". However, on the most recent flight I had, the FA told me they had provided two to other customers earlier and they were all out (not too fussed about this). I'm more curious as to which flights actually have this drink available, or if they serve it at the lounges too?
 
Thanks @RichardMEL. I did consider booking OOL>SYD the day after, but was thinking it would likely be ok. The original plan was simply AKL>MEL>OOL, however I then noticed I could do AKL>SYD>MEL>OOL for similar cost and a decent bump in (D)SC, so it was a no-brainer in that respect. In fact, ironically the latter routing provided greater buffer for the OOL>SYD flight. The longer I've had it booked, the more concerned I became about that 30m connection in MEL. I'm sure it will all work out fine... I was just contemplating approaches to minimise issues if the worst happened.

In summary, I guess I'm hearing that there's not much point in trying to link the bookings.
Well as luck would have it, turns out Qantas has rescheduled my MEL>OOL flight such that it now departs before my flight into MEL arrives, hence my SYD>MEL>OOL legs are no longer viable. Sadly, no (more) lucrative alternatives work, so guess I’ll be accepting the change and submitting an ORC claim. On the plus side, my OOL>SYD leg is no longer at risk. Just have to kill more time in the OOL QP.

Uh remember the OOL QP closes between flights. You may need to go for the Bonza Lounge....

Seriously? I may not be match fit, but is this a recent development?

Just been looking at the schedule for my travel day… I wonder how strict they are on this policy If you’re already in the lounge? My flight lands around 11:10 or so with the next QF service departing 12:25, followed by 12:40, then 14:30 then 15:35 (which is my one). Seems 12:40 to 13:30 is the issue. Wonder if they‘ll kick me out or just take pity and let me sit quietly in a corner keeping to myself?

They will kick you out for approx 1220-1330. Of course if that 1240 flight is delayed you may luck out....

And no this is not that new. Has been this way for awhile.

I think your friends got very lucky.

One lounge pass can be used SYD. It’s not multi use and can’t be used again at SiN.
Also it’s not possible to transfer a pass to the SIN-LHR sector of QF1 or vv on QF2.

Right, but is that actually how the Qantas lounge pass system works? Is there even a lounge pass that's "consumed" when you scan into a lounge? It feels like they just get attached to a boarding pass, and now you have a boarding pass with lounge access that you can scan into any lounge.

If your boarding pass is "SYD-LHR" and has lounge access attached by way of a lounge pass then I'd imagine both lounges along the way will take you.

If people have had the opposite experience then I'm interested in hearing it. Of course, it's entirely possible this isn't the intended behaviour by Qantas, and is instead a limitation of their IT.

Or if it can only be used at 1 lounge, which is it? SIN or SYD? The first one you show / swipe the pass at?
 
Hello all,

Over 10 years ago I was upgraded into business class SYD-LAX from a middle seat in the back row of economy. Have no idea how I got so lucky - no status, sale fare etc but since then I joined AFF and following some advice I've been (very) slowly earning points with the goal to one day return to business class and it's finally happening.

I'm flying QF11/12 in 2 weeks and I'm wondering what everyone's tips or insider advice is to make the most of the (hopefully not just twice in a lifetime) experience? Meals or drinks to try in the lounge or on board etc. I'm also flying some internal US flights on AA in their first/business - managed to follow some advice on here to log in to the AA site via the BA site to select seats and meals.

It's also a special trip for me - heading to a conference to present some of my work for the first time which in nursing is not an opportunity we get very often if at all so hoping to really enjoy and make the most of the experience as a reward for all the hard work.

Hello I’m new to this platform so forgive me if this question has been asked before.

I was wondering if there is a certain time that QFF release their classic reward seats in business class?

I have luckily acquired a business class seat one way to Dallas then flying onwards to Calgary in august 2024 but haven’t booked my return flight 4 weeks later hoping a business class seat might become available from one of the major hubs.

I would appreciate any feedback please.

Is there still a service desk airside (or in the the lounge) at MEL T1? Has been quite a while since I've needed access to one but rather deal with someone at the airport than being on hold and potentially missing my flighte.
