The Qantas Newbie Questions Thread

I recently upgraded on an AA flight from JFK-DFW - points and status credits were based on the original booking class, much to my disappointment.
Was it reticketed and do you know what fare bucket?

Even YUPPs (miss those), would actually book into “P” class that earns as Biz…

YUPPs and KUPPs (and variants) were instant upgrade fares. They booked directly into the relevant business class fare bucket (but had to have the underlying economy fare bucket available at time of purchase).

Different to many upgrade offers where the original ticket class determines miles.

Yes, but both BA and from what I’ve read, AA paid upgrades should earn at the upgrade class.

BA books into “U” and BAEC members earn at the higher rate. QFF used to also earn J SCs until they tweaked the system(s) a few months ago and now they post as “Award” flights with no SCs/Points (not even original fare rates….).

I’ve not done a paid AA (or AS) upgrade and curious what fare bucket they change to - if any.

The reference to YUPP was to point out that you’d buy Full “Y” fare but immediately upgraded to “First” and ticketed as “P” class. Heady days when they used to earn F SCs with QFF.

What's the best way for me to check?
It should be on the email confirmation (assuming there was one)?

Class should be “Business” or “First” with the fare bucket in “( * )”

*being the actual fare bucket.

Nothing of the sort unfortunately - just a purchase receipt received by email showing 'Upgrade (day of departure)' and the relevant charge.
