The Qantas Newbie Questions Thread

I recently upgraded on an AA flight from JFK-DFW - points and status credits were based on the original booking class, much to my disappointment.
Was it reticketed and do you know what fare bucket?

Even YUPPs (miss those), would actually book into “P” class that earns as Biz…

YUPPs and KUPPs (and variants) were instant upgrade fares. They booked directly into the relevant business class fare bucket (but had to have the underlying economy fare bucket available at time of purchase).

Different to many upgrade offers where the original ticket class determines miles.

Yes, but both BA and from what I’ve read, AA paid upgrades should earn at the upgrade class.

BA books into “U” and BAEC members earn at the higher rate. QFF used to also earn J SCs until they tweaked the system(s) a few months ago and now they post as “Award” flights with no SCs/Points (not even original fare rates….).

I’ve not done a paid AA (or AS) upgrade and curious what fare bucket they change to - if any.

The reference to YUPP was to point out that you’d buy Full “Y” fare but immediately upgraded to “First” and ticketed as “P” class. Heady days when they used to earn F SCs with QFF.

It should be on the email confirmation (assuming there was one)?

Class should be “Business” or “First” with the fare bucket in “( * )”

*being the actual fare bucket.
Nothing of the sort unfortunately - just a purchase receipt received by email showing 'Upgrade (day of departure)' and the relevant charge.

I only have an award flight on AA booking at the moment but I can’t even see the fare code in the AA app or website…

anyone know what first class seats are available on QFF?

So far, I've seen Emirates (the most), JAL, British Airlines

I've seen Air France business seats but have read somewhere their first class are only available with their own ff program (First class seats arent bookable with QFF)

Correct for AF.

Add AA lonhghaul.

Technically, QR (A380) but good luck finding them since the tiff between QR and QF.

Give them a call and you should get them reinstated if you meet their criteria. Usually this is 2500 points from two different sources but they will tell you the exact details. Easiest way is probably buying some wine from Qantas wines and then download the wellbeing up and just earn a couple of points there. You can also convert some everyday rewards woolies points.

I've rang Qantas and the challenge they give is to earn 2500 points via 2 sources within a 6 month period than a 3 month, which is more than enough and pretty generous. What i found pretty useful for a quick win was to convert Everyday rewards $25 for 2500 qantas points in then sign up the wellbeing app and start completing those challenges. Never will I ever want to have my points expired again !

Question for the more experienced, WP here and so is Mrs Goosh.

We are on a business trip to CGK and have colleagues from the UK here too. They are flying Etihad back to the UK and we fly to Sydney on QF.

We are all going to the airport at the same time, would we be able to guest them into the lounge with us?

Probably not. The Guest requirement for partner lounges is they must be travelling on same flight.

What class of travel / status do you friends have? AFAIK, EY uses the same lounge as QF.

Thought that may have been the case.

Won't matter anyways as our QF flight is now delayed by a few hours so our check-in now opens when they are boarding.

QF has “early” checkin at CGK.

Something like 4+ hrs prior unlike the standard 3 hrs most airlines do. Handy if you need to get out of the hotel.

Good to know when back here on May.

Currently in the car on the way to the airport. Tried to beat the afternoon traffic, but it's already picked up and we are slowly moving
