The Qantas Singapore Lounge

Hi

Am flying out of SIN in a couple of days with a group of 5 (3 adults and 2 very well behaved young kids). Am wondering what would be the best time to get to the QF SIN lounge in order to get some decent seats for us and the kids. Have read reports of the lounge getting busy, which is understandable around 8pm given the number of QF flights departing around then and in the following hour.

If anyone has any suggestions of a good time to arrive before it gets too crowded I'd appreciate it. Maybe 5pm?

While we appreciate the food options, we'd be perfectly happy to have a few snacks / light bites and find a secluded spot somewhere to enable the kids to watch a quiet movie on the laptop without bothering anyone else.

Cheers

Between 2.30 and 5 is good, my favourite time to visit that lounge, after that I prefer EK or just people watching outside. If you get in early you can always grab a quiet corner and keep it your own, turning left at the bar then left after the loos tends to be the quietest and has a drinks area close.

Thanks for that. We'll try to get there between 4 and 5 and hopefully we should get some space for the family.

Cheers

I was in the QF SIN lounge last Saturday around 7pm. The joint was far too busy & noisy kids everywhere.
It seemed way understaffed, as there were used plates & dishes scattered everywhere.
The F&B offerings were ok, though it was just too crowded on this occasion for my liking.

Not sure what level of access you have or which flight you are on, although if you can get into the BA lounge, BA15 to SYD boards at around 7pm, and it should be nice and quiet there for a couple of hours, before the LHR-bound pax arrive. Hardly any food options to speak of, but it should be quite easy to take over a space for the family.

I was in the lounge at the same time as you! It was a zoo...after managing to order (and quickly eat) the grilled salmon, I headed off to the much quieter (and more food options) EK lounge:)

With the change from B747 to A330 for QF6, the departure time is then to be 23:50ish. But the QF lounge in SIN has a closing time of 23:00. Will Qantas change the closing time of the lounge to accommodate the later departure of QF6?

There would be little need to change the closing time since the boarding call would be expected to be approx 45-50 minutes before departure time anyway.

Perhaps QF may 'enhance" the closing time of till 2200ish to allow for cleaning & refreshing of the lounge & of course importantly getting you to the gate on time

Ha ... shouldn't worry those SG/WP in the know ... they'd be hanging out in EK'ville.

The QF lounge is actually quite comfy at that time. However, the cook-to-order food option won't be available. The closing time is currently listed at 2300, but in practice, it stays open until QF6 boarding time, whenever that might be.

Unless the EK lounge has been renovated in the past 12 months - this WP isn't interested....

So this weekend I had many hours to spare before QF6, so I decided to try out the EK lounge for the first time, decor a bit worn and sterile however ambience was good, no more than 20 people in the entire lounge, had a shower and didn't feel rushed.

Had a walk past the QF lounge door to see how full it was before QF82 etc departed and it was a loud zoo. Only after QF82 departed did I then make my way to the QF lounge, it was probably only 30% full, but still didn't have that calm feeling of the EK lounge, also there were a lot of Bintang singlets going on with footwear optional.

Live cooking station was still open at 9:30pm when I got there, however I was already full from the EK lounge options, EK's options were quite good although all buffet ?
Beef/Chicken skewers with satay sauce, lamb cottage pie (delicious), chicken schnitzel also good.

I think if push comes to shove, I'll goto QF lounge if it is not too busy, otherwise i'll goto the quiet haven that is the EK lounge!
