The Qantas Status Run Master Thread

I stayed at the Manha Hotel Airport at the weekend and was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable the rooms were and how clean they were. I would definitely stay there again. I used the Yellow Bus which was easy and much nicer given that it was raining :)

Hi all

I don’t have massive travel plans this membership year so i’m planning the current favourite AKL run to keep my WP. What price should I be aiming for if purchased during a sale (i have time and can plan)?

Currently best i can find is $1,800 … does it get cheaper?

It’s more a question of $ per SC. The closer you can get it to around $3 per SC the better. Anything better than that would be very good!

Not sure from where you plan To depart, but here’s a member’s recent trip report ($3.50/SC on the DSC offer): My DSC run from MEL - BNE - AKL in under 24 hours

So I booked MEL-xCNS-xBNE-xSYD-xMCY in J for Dec on points with AS Miles before they devalued back during DSC for a total of 184SC (booked a few months ago)

I just got an email from AS and the've booked me on the direct MEL-MCY in J (D fare) instead now. I think what happened was QF changed the CNS-BNE flight times which made the whole thing impossible on same day so they just put me on Revuene J direct which I'm not unhappy about, except 60SC x 2 = 120SC so it will be 64SC less.

Thoughts on if I'll be able to claim ORC on this to get those extra 64SC but still take the direct MEL-MCY flight?

It should be doable, the only uncertainty is whether QFF claims AS booked awards are ineligible to earn...

I have claimed ORC for involuntary changes to QFF booked awards (inc DSC) several times.

Keep your AS change notifications.

Thanks, I did a similar run last year, booked with AS in U and DSC and it all posted as expected.

does anyone know if you can earn status credits for Qantas on LATAM ticketed Qantas flights? looking at buisness class flights from Perth to Auckland and there is a reasonably priced PER-MEL-SYD-AKL flight of which 2 legs are on QF metal which in theory is decent if those 2 flights earn status.

the qantas point calculator is showing very random results saying status is earned for Silver or Platinum but not for Bronze, Gold, or Platinum One. and its not searchable on the PER-MEL segment

Not if it has an LA flight numbers. Only QF codes.

Hey! Just about to click over to my next membership year at the end of the month. I will be 50SC short of platinum so looking to do a quick run next week. What would you all recommend for a cheap run out of Brisbane to get 50 extra credits? I have completed green tier so will have to fly somewhere :)

What have you found so far?

I think you're gonna struggle to find anything cheap, purely down to the fact that QF jacks up fares about a month out from departure - for next week, you'll probably struggle to get anything less than $15/SC. Runs like BNE-MKY-ROK are like $750 (which would only get you 40SC), or another option like BNE-MEL-LST return is 50SC, but still costs about $880.

If you have points club, my best suggestion would be to book a quick J/Y mixed return to something like Orange via SYD, which would be 36,800 points altogether + taxes (BNE-SYD-OAG comes in just under 600 miles, so it's in zone 1).

How far off from a loyalty bonus?

But otherwise, BNE-AKL-SYD-BNE - but at short notice, that’s still $970 in discount whY for exactly 50 SCs…

start from Gold Coast and check options there.

Just note there is football finals on so airfares are not cheap.

Hi I'm about 300 SC short of Platinum renewal by 31 DEC.

Saw MH has this great fare from KUL-MLE for $475 which is supposed to yield 80 SC. This is based on what the QF calculator tells me (https://www.qantas.com/au/en/frequent-flyer/calculators.html)

My question is whether the said calculator is accurate. The last thing I want is to do the heavy lift then suddenly I get 40 SC instead of 80. Thanks!

Assuming that you are flying J then that seems correct - KL to Male is 1948 miles so falls in the 1501-2500 mile band of "All Other Flights" -
