The Qantas Status Run Master Thread

Okay gurus, I'm headed to the US next year and trying to turn it into a status run w/DSC right now as I'm into LAX and out of DFW (+/- a DFW-Washington DC in between) but am struggling... maybe because I only have internet on my phone and not a computer but I can't figure out how to view the different legs and dates with options as it just shows me 'Qantas choice or flex fares' and the app is even worse?! In short, I need to be in LA by 30 May and leave DFW for ADL from 29 July onwards and don't mind multi-stops and layovers, just want a reasonable fare with max SCs. I miss the days of being able to simply plug in dates on their website, what am I doing wrong? 😕 FWIW, I can find a basic fare ADL-LAX, DFW-ADL for ~$2400 with jack all points and not upgradeable and an S bucket version on ITA matrix for ~$3500 but can't find a way to select those fares online?! Those are direct and I'm happy to dogleg anywhere for the SC 🙂

On a side note, to make things easier, can you turn on your phone's hotspot so that you can use your computer's web browser connected to your phone's data, via WiFi?

Just noticed that DRW-DIL earns 100 status credits in J, despite the route being only 451 miles long. Flight time is just over an hour, served by the E190.

A return fare seems to be pretty consistently priced at $2002, so not the cheapest out there, but in theory you could go there and back in under 4 hours. If booked on DSCs, it's about $5/SC.

Not sure if a same-plane turnaround in Timor Leste is possible. Personally I'd stay a few days and check the place out!

Other J options (SC count shown is before DSCs) include:

  • ASP-DRW-DIL earns 320 SC for $3102 return
  • ADL-DRW-DIL earns 360 SC for $3440 return

How about some nested b2bs? Does that give a better price profile? You could still spend some time there, too; depending on how you schedule each of those trips.

Maybe a PC sweet spot?

They say the diving and snorkelling is good, so worth a punt I'd say! 😂

Is POM much different? Personally always preferred PNG for its flora and fauna.
