Nearly forgot :
I saw a colleague on his lunchbreak lurking on FT on Friday.
He pointed to his screen and said "Can you believe that ? Someone asking for advice on spending $2K on a flight he doesn't need to get to Gold ?"
I peered at the screen and sheepishly said:
"I know the person who replied sensibly to that (serfty), welcome to the dark side"

Yep have had a similar situation a couple of times. Someone here worked with an ex colleague/friend of mine and told them about a status run they did. Friend brought it up in conversation with me (about workmate getting status really cheap) , I found out a few days later that someone posting here worked in the same office... and was boasting online about their new status. Haha. Small world.

Another time a friend was talking about the members here and how they optimize flights etc. All good fun.

While I've become more and more "open" about who I am... I really don't like combining different online/offline social circles and don't tend to discuss aff or ft or similar unless in similar company.

I think my husband was a little bit scoffing about all this until I did some JASA and opted him in for DSC offer and suddenly found himself as a WP. He's a convert. :)

Yet another example of where Seinfeld has already asked and answered the question. Independent George - Worlds collide - YouTube

Don't ever let worlds collide.

Especially JohnKs stapler. And his chair. From previous discussions on this thread. ;)

There is something wrong with me, for I am regretting not taking a circuitous route to MEL next month...

I must be careful not to make any more friends in Brazil if these are the effects!

My two sons are in Japan for the World Cup soccer qualifier to determine whether there is a trip to Brazil required.

It seems many have made the trip to Tokyo - A pity I have other commitments otherwise I would likely be there as well.

Japan is creating a bit of an impression with my youngest son. He has had his wallet stolen together with his I Phone (which incidentally does not reset onto the Japanese system). The MasterCards only worked at the airport.
I think he may need to wash dishes to get by this week. This is a really good test for a twenty one year old.

I am reminded of the episode where the Simpsons went to Tokyo and did not have enough money to get home, cove. Perhaps your son could take a leaf out of their book and work in a fish market!

On a serious note, I am surprised to hear of the theft - I always regarded Japan as a very safe country. I guess these things happen everywhere, you just have to be unlucky to be the victim.
