It's bleeping cold tonight. I've turned on the heating...only about the 3rd time this winter.

I know!! I've been qearing double layers of PJs this week. The heaters are all still in the shed. Only a few more sleeps til spring ...

So how cold is it in BNE? 20 degrees? Fair dinkum you have no idea what cold is.

And what's this pyjamas thing? Unless I in a premium cabin in the plane I don't wear them.

I have no idea why they chose Australia. Perhaps they should have immigrated to Japan, China or India who are more tolerant on immigrants.

More tolerant? Ha!

Well, maybe not that they'd be thrown into prison or send to a gulag-like camp (maybe China, don't know), but rather the government will simply ignore them. They won't get social benefits, and if you don't find some way to survive, you'll be left to die.

Doesn't work like that in this country. Now you know why they are all coming.

The fine line tread on the fragile thread known as International Human Rights.

Of course, if Tony Abbott has his way, he'd rather just push all the boats back to where they came from. Or shoot them all up. Whatever, gives the navy a job.

Just scrubbing that image out of my brain.

Remind me not to book a premium seat next to Hvr on an airline which won't supply PJs to him...........

Stefan was born in Lebanon, wasn't he? He's not Greek. [Not arguing his contribution to Qld, though].

Ohh, this might be on topic too much ... wasn't Stefan (& his brother's?) first salon in Longreach, tying into Qantas history? ;)

Yep and yep.
Stefan used to cut my hair when I was a little girl on our visits to Longreach.

Bit balmy in London tonight. Threatening to rain but we might get away with only a sprinkle.

More tolerant? Ha!
Well you sort of know I was joking.

Actually come to think of it I would love to see the immigration policy of those 3 countries and how they plan to chip in and assist the rest of the world with the refugee problem.

Non existant you say? And Australia has the reputation of being a racist country....

As I many have said before that you can't see something does not mean its non-existent.
I know just because I can't see something does not mean it does not exist.

But if Italians and Greeks had such an influence in Brisbane/Queensland then it should be visible as it is in Sydney, Melbourne and other Australian cities.

There is no point in assimilating without leaving something visible for those to follow.

But they do. Look at paniyiri as one example. My italian friends in brisbane certainly had their hangouts. Certain soccer clubs and also there were a number of italian hangouts where they would have parties etc.

Have you been to the multicultural day at Roma street parklands which occurs once a year?

In some ways you could say that Italians and Greeks have *better* assimilated in Brisbane than Melbourne and Sydney. Because you don't notice them....

Just a reminder that if you're in MEL today, there's dinner at Blue Train at 5.30pm & then the after party at the Cheese Grater.
