The prize money is the same for both Men's and women.. But the women only play the best of three....

Yes the prize money is equal (which I think is unfair given different playing conditions ie best of 5 vs best of 3).

So the loser in the Mens (R Federer) earnt only 1/2 of what the winner of the Womens (S Williams) won - seems a bit unfair imo really.

All pretty standard unfortunately. Still try and lodge a claim with LAN though (to get it refused in writing) as your insurance may want to see it has been refused. Also take photos of the damage etc as soon as possible.

Pictures were taken at home, but that clause about the broken straps/handles really cheeses me. Without the handles, the baggage is almost impractical.

On the other hand, the bag didn't cost me more than $100 (4 piece set - 1 large, 1 small, 1 sports bag and 1 amenity bag) and lasted about 7 months.

Who else thinks Roger F may not recover from this loss?
But on a light hearted note-Why wouldn't a fish make a good tennis player?
Because he would be afraid to go into the net.
With thanks to 5 yr old grandson for that one.

I had my flight on the A380 from LA to MEL, got back Jan 16th. Like everyone says, the economy seats are pretty average. If you get a window seat don't expect to rest your head against the side of the plane, it will fall through. I actually found the service really average, not many drinks were offered or snacks. Compared to UA who I flew over, they made sure everyone was happy and had drinks etc. The Inflight Entertainment on the A380 was amazing though... The amount of things on that thing is crazy, although my screen froze and it takes about 5 minutes to reset. Tail cam is nuts, and I really enjoyed all the movies. Couldn't help myself, so I watched a documentary on female bloggers who talk about sex, this had a lot of breast action showing. The american couple next to me probably thought I was a pervert  Overall it's a really nice plane, just don't expect anything different in economy except in flight entertainment.

The half-century list of off-topic post-filler questions

Can't believe we're cracking the half-century here, but this topic needs to roll on a bit.

You know the drill - answer any or all:

41. What is your favourite/preferred activity for passing the time on board a flight?
42. Describe a time when having travel insurance was certainly well worth it.
43. "There's no such thing as bad Business class." Debate and discuss.
44. BKK (now DMK) Don Mueang; KUL (now SZB) Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah (Subang); HKG (now defunct) Kai Tak; DEN (now defunct) Stapleton; BNE (now cargo only) (old) International, Lomandra Drive.
Of all of those, which ones have you been to before they were closed/replaced for primary international traffic? (I can't think of any more besides those...)
45. What kind of camera do you normally carry with you whilst travelling?
46. The three most important characteristics of a good hotel room are (in order).....
47. What is your pet hate bad habit of your fellow passengers when on board an aircraft?
48. Describe your piece(s) of cabin baggage.
49. In your opinion/experience, what is the best treatment for a hangover?
50. Describe a flight where you've remarked after disembarking, "I can't believe I survived that flight!"

Re: The next set of "questions"...

And answering my own...

31. Sightseeing: do you prefer tours or doing it alone?
32. If I spend money overseas, I usually (a) use cash I changed before leaving Australia, (b) use cash I changed after arriving at my destination, (c) use my credit card, (d) use traveller's cheques, (e) use a preloaded cash card/EFTPOS from my bank account (e.g. Cirrus, debit card)?
33. Hot weather or cold weather?
34. Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, China, Korea, Japan. Rank them in priority of wanting to visit/holiday.
35. You've booked a standard room at a hotel and on check-in you are offered only one of the following complimentary options - room upgrade to suite, daily breakfast (full hot range, not just continental), internet access - which one would you select?
36. Do you usually plan your holidays (a) far in advance, (b) fairly late, (c) at the last minute?
37. Do you usually pack your bags for holidays (a) fairly early, (b) quite late, (c) at the 11th hour?
38. Do you prefer very long (months) holidays, long (weeks) holidays or short (days) holidays?
39. Do you book holiday flights usually via (a) a travel agent, (b) direct via airline websites, (c) using generic travel websites (e.g. TravelKey, Webjet), (d) direct to airlines over the phone?
40. How susceptible are you to jet lag and its effects/symptoms?

31. Alone, although I don't mind tours if in the company of people I know, or we all have a common interest (e.g. FT or AFF dos).
32. (a) and (c). (b) does happen, but rarely.
33. Cold weather, please. Someone talked about clothes for this one - I'm with them.
34. Japan, Korea, China, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam.
35. Probably the daily breakfast, unless the place where I was going was very expensive on the internet access, in which I might choose that instead. One thing about choosing complementary breakfast is that usually frees up a big portion of the travel budget in food. Disadvantage is waking up early enough to make the hotel's breakfast times.
36. (a), but probably a maximum of 6 months ahead; final bookings (e.g. of hotels, positioning flights, etc.), however, may be up until the last minute.
37. (c). Anyone who has read my TRs knows I'm notorious for this. :D
38. I usually do short holidays and don't mind it at all, although at least once before I graduate from my PhD I'd like to have a long (weeks) holiday.
39. (b) and (c).
40. I don't think I get it that bad, although I probably haven't travelled far or long enough to really have that thought tested.

Isn't the point that they offer self-service snack bars, so you can either have as little or as much as you like (albeit of their particularly highly fatty snacks!)

Re: The half-century list of off-topic post-filler questions

Can't believe we're cracking the half-century here, but this topic needs to roll on a bit.

You know the drill - answer any or all:

41. What is your favourite/preferred activity for passing the time on board a flight? Watching movies (it's about the only time i ever do)
42. Describe a time when having travel insurance was certainly well worth it. Never had to claim.
43. "There's no such thing as bad Business class." Debate and discuss.
That's a rule, and all rules need exceptions to prove them.
BKK (in danger of being hit by wayward golf shots) and HKG (wonderful landing). Several others OTTOMH that I've been to are Singapore Paya Lebar (now an airforce facility I think), Oslo Fornebu (no longer an airport), and a little closer to home Melbourne Essendon (now general aviation)
45. What kind of camera do you normally carry with you whilst travelling?
I only own an old non-digital and most of the time I can't even find it to take with me
46. The three most important characteristics of a good hotel room are (in order).....Cleanliness, Comfortable bed, Lack of outside noise
47. What is your pet hate bad habit of your fellow passengers when on board an aircraft? Using my seatback as a handrail (frequently)
48. Describe your piece(s) of cabin baggage.
Black inexpesive standard type hand luggage with wheels (rollaboard? maybe 20 inches?),
49. In your opinion/experience, what is the best treatment for a hangover? Time...
50. Describe a flight where you've remarked after disembarking, "I can't believe I survived that flight!" AA - long time ago, DC-9 (or similar) - thunderstorm, much wobbling and creaking. (I never did say it though)/quote]
