I just caught a blast from the past, BAe146 came screaming overhead near OOL. Apparently belonging to Vincent Aviation. I haven't seen one of these for years!

Been doing FIFO to Middlemount for a while.

Hopefully I'll get a look at it more often if that's the case!

I think the last time I actually saw one in the flesh was riding an Ansett variant when I was about 10 years old. I forgot just how small those engines are!

Anybody remember the BAe146 cabin fume 'issue' that bubbled along way back in the way back.......?

Only time I got to fly on one was with Ansett NZ when I was 7.

I flew a Qantas Airlink 146 BNE-CBR in Sept 2000 in J. Didn't seem noisy compared to Dash 8. Used to notice them though when they flew overhead due to distinctive engine whine.

Didn't want to create a thread however...

Arriving into HKG at 2300 flying out at 1300 the next day. What would you do?

1) Book hotel at $260ish at the Airport and not go into HKG
2) Catch MRT to CBD and get a hotel $130ish (Conrad is $400!)
3) Dump bag at baggage services, go into city, explore, goto a bar and catch up on sleep over the next two flights in F back to SYD?

Never been to HKG before...

Option 2 would be my choice :)

I'm with the Princess. A sleep and shower then an early start to tour the harbour then off to the airport. Maybe you can leave main bag at the airport and just take a small carry on for overnight?

Sounds like option 2 it is! Only taking a small carry on anyway so not too much of an issue

Now to work out where to stay...I've been spolit with BKK hotel prices!

Depending on your age, travelling companions ? .....I'd go for option 3. HKG is a blast and you will easily find things to do. Eat, drink, foot massage.....the list is endless!

27 and will be travelling by myself hence the option #3. Open to ideas!

Thinking I could just get MRT back to airport around 10am, shower in the lounge before going to BKK...

There are a few AFF members living in HKG.....you could start an AFF drinks event:idea:

Happy Foot is great for a massage....if you haven't had one - do it! Our Branches - Happy Foot - Hong Kong Reflexology spa most branches open until 2am.

It's been a few years since I partied hard in HKG....as a first time visitor - it's a great experience. We had an office in Wan Chi so that's where I started most evenings - very ex-pat crowd but a whole lot of fun.

Regarding BAE 146, if you fly into or out of London City airport you will see many of these! Most seemed to be going to or from Zurich.
