Ok no brakes on these Samsonite bag sets. Just a great price in US dollars.

For Samsonite certainly a good deal.

I was looking at a medium size American Tourister recently (due to sale price), but not sure that I want to be branded American by my luggage (silly I know).

It's still a nice feeling to see so many kangaroo tails at an airport outside Australia. Even if you're not travelling on one this time!

Jamie's Italian opened recently in Brisbane? It was packed a couple of weeks ago and I couldn't work out why until I realised there was a "celebrity" behind it all.

It's open for a while now. My gf went there last year and said the food was very ordinary and service terrible. I wasn't surprised to hear that as I went to his restaurant in SYD before and had similar disappointing experience.

That is a real shame. We went to the restaurant in both London and Sydney, and I have to say the experiences in both were very good. Seems the standards are not being upheld and simply banking it on "the name".

I have only been there for lunch a couple of times and was happy with the food. But the staff are definitely up themselves and IME the customer is never right.

Had dinner in Sydney twice and really enjoyed it both times. The service dropped off towards the end but the food was lovely.

I've eaten in both the sydney and adelaide jamie's italian resturants without experiencing any of the issues raised here. 2 hour wait in Sydney, but that's to be expected when just rocking up on the night without a booking. The good thing learned in that situation is that you can wait at the bar, and order from most of the menu anyway. So much so that you can probably have a decent lunch without even needing a proper table. The tell them you don't need the table afterall and leave. The pricing is quite reasonable. Will double check when I'm there this weekend.

The staff were friendly and helpful if a bit slow. But chatting to them discovers that they'd been working a crazy long shift. Amazing to still be smiling and chatty.

I don't get the disparaging comments about Jamie's celebrity either. He seems like a genuine person. He seems to be very keen to improve things like nutritional standards for school children. I'm not sure why you'd blame a guy for using his celebrity status to push such issues.

When I ate there the food was not bad but it was also no different then other non-celebrity-chef Italian restaurants. Maybe I had high expectations.
Also, the service was not friendly at all which is completely opposite to the image of Jamie.

Probably high expectations on quality. Except for maybe one other restaurant in Brisbane, I have not had a decent Italian meal ever, one very expensive restaurant excluded as I haven't tried them.

If Jamie's isn't punching above a low target then that's definitely not good. My experiences in Sydney and London made me feel that I got my money's worth both in food quality (offering and taste) as well as service. As I said especially for Brisbane, I don't know if the Italian landscape has changed considerably but overall I consider the average as a low bar.

Mains/pasta in the $20 to $30 region is pretty good value. Especially with most pub grub being in the same range these days.

Many years ago my friends took me to a place in Ascot that they considered to be the best italian in Brisbane. Not sure if it is still under the same management. But this italian restaurant is in the same location. Contacts
Not that it's an easy trip for you now.

There used to be 2 Italian restaurants in QLD that were as good as any in the world-
Cala Luna MCY-sadly changed owners and headed downhill.
Doms Mt.Isa-closed.
Ate at a couple of Jamies places in the UK.Not impressed.
