I have managed to bring my BMI down from 29 to 25 since Christmas - from Overweight to Healthy range. Don't give up hope. But it does take hard work and determination. This morning I walked 10.5km before breakfast. I am doing the 10,000 step walking challenge for the month of May, but have set my own goal to hit 15,000 steps minimum each day, and so far averaging over 18,000 steps per day, or half a million for the month. But that takes time - at least 2 hours a day. At least the Brisbane weather is nice at 6:30am at this time of the year.
Great work.

I'll keep trying but it feels like 1 step forward and 2 steps back.

I'm sure I have consumption. Weight has drop 10kg over the last couple of months with no specific change to my habits.

Well, I have stopped drinking Black Death (coke) but I'm sure beer intake has increased to compensate.

Today is NBN installation day.

I've got the added complication of mum's Vital Call unit. Telstra, NBNCo & Vital Call assures me that it will be ok.

I wanted to go with my current ISP, TPG. But they refuse to support things like Vital Call. I found out later that their phone system would be VoIP so nothing like Vital Call will work.

Enter a mate who resells telco services. He's price matching TPG & assures me the Vital Call will work. His system would work like Telstra's would.

On another topic, I decided to upgrade my 4S to a 6+. Virgin Mobile decided to send the phone before I'd verified my ID & income. I was at work but mum was here but I don't think they didn't attempt delivery.

They sent the phone back to Virgin & then I had a very long & frustrating phone call with them. The social media team managed to speed things up somewhat but it's still almost still a week.

To make things worse, I dropped my phone & for the first time in a long time, I cracked the screen. I've dropped the phone many times.

I may or may not have took a screencap to try to show the cracks.

But in the case of exercise, that counts as three steps ... only 9997 more for the day ;)

Just checked my pedometer - 16,593 so far for the day. Some have been forwards and a few backwards too.

Mine only at 8,600. I spend far to long in front of a computer screens.

In my last job I easily clocked up 10000 steps a day as I was alway on the move around the office (across two levels in one building and three in another). This job has me sitting all day and my step count has been woeful. Add in flu and I've been lucky to hit 2000 the last week. Hopefully my new job gets me moving more.

what pedometer are you using?
One sent to me by my employer as its a company-sponsored challenge for the month of May. No brand name on it. It shows steps, distance and and KCal. I use my iPhone as a reference, but as I don't "wear" my phone all day (I actually use it for making and phone calls sometimes) it is not going to be anywhere near accurate.

Strange thing happened a couple of days ago.

I logged into Netbank and noticed my Streamline account which I use to pay bills had a balance of $525. That's strange I thought there was close to $1000 in there. Hmmm. A few minutes later I was preparing to transfer some money around to pay more bills and the balance was now $955. That's better. I must have been seeing things earlier.

Transferred some money from salary account, paid some credit card bills and the balance was now $525.

Feels scary.

Did you have any pending amounts bringing that amount down but may have cleared?

Pretty good, but try being the deputy principal of a large high school. You rack up some paces during a day. Since retirement I've had to do three solid gym workouts a week plus a couple of 4 km walks and still the bloody scales keep lying to me - in the worst possible way!

And, moderator, why have my posts frozen on 538???

One of the reps at work was dropping weight like that too - no change to eating or drinking habits at all. Went to the doctor a couple of times and it turns out he has developed a thyroid problem (he's 45). This was probably 6 months ago now, and they're still adjusting his medication to get the balance right.

Might be worth a trip to the GP.

In 1998 I went traipsing around Ireland, England and France for three weeks.

I wined and dined and generally ate up but I came back 7kg lighter!

I put it down to a sedentary employment situation - I managed to keep that weight off and more by ensuring I walked 18 holes of golf twice a month.

In other news I've had to start an airline competitions spreadsheet.

I have similar worries. Persistent spot on my face, dodgy looking arm mole and consistently itchy mark on leg. Doctor is definitely in my near future.

Ingress does have me walking a lot more. But that been for more than a couple of months. One thing that amazed me on my recent trip to Belgium was there were a few nights that I had a single beer and no food for dinner; and I didn't feel hungry at all.

*sigh* its been about 9 months since I've even been to an airport, let alone on a flight. I'll return to my hibernation now (what a waste of WP membership)...
