I think Mrs Rugby is getting into the spirit of a potential recession. We have an NZ trip (QF Y) coming up that I booked a while ago to break up a 6 month gap in overseas travel. Last night I lamented that these sale fares weren't eligible for upgrades. My soulmate in pointy end flying told me to 'suck it up princess' :)

Found it, yes it would stand out.
You are welcome to add to the display. I will put a "reserved" sign on this table just for you ;)

Lookin' good - very good. I see there's a place for PJM... (BTW, she knows nothing of this yet, but she's always hankered to visit the Hunter again after we had a very pleasant LWE there a few years back - just waiting until I get back and find that you have secured all desired bookings;).)

Surely a case for the lawyers here? The payment was an 'expensive bottle of wine' not a bottle that previously contained expensive wine. I.e. a wine bottle.

I did lodge a formal complaint with the RBA (some old colleagues of his).

Their 'official response' was that the terms of the contract were open to interpretation and they recommended against legal action as 'the glass is fully empty".

I did say 'old colleagues'.

I should also say (maybe a bit controversially) that we are spending inordinately large sums with at times poor results at either extremes of life. I suspect that we will never tackle any low-value healthcare at the start of it.

They calculate you spend 90% of your healthcare costs in the last year of life.

I have known some prem births (very underweight) to be in hospital for months with teams working on them.

Ultimately there is a forced value on life (actuarily calculated) that may not be reconciled or considered when choosing healthcare options for the very vulnerable.

We've been on the same MBP policy for 20 odd years, Top Hospital, Blue Ribbon Extras ... they ceased marketing the policy years ago. Anyway, MBP have been lobbying for us to change the policy so "we can save money" - around $1,000 year.

From what I can see they scream about the savings and bigger rebates however, they're pretty coy on the things that get dumped - renal, joints, eyes, etc...

Seems to me the things that are getting dumped are expensive and common.

Don't do it before you understand fully the altered policy conditions. I am in the same boat with BUPA and our policy would double by $450 mth to get a replacement policy that is comparable to what we received at commencement.

Re: Who says share markets ALWAYS make money over long time periods?

I am off to the West Coast next week to watch the other WA team Fremantle in the AFL finals.
Nice that WA teams finished one and two.

I booked my flights on speculation of when the matches will be, I just hope Fremantle put in a 4 quarter effort.

Actually a glass of Red would be more appropriate as I like cigars as little as I like shopping and golf :!:

I don't know how people can still use any tobacco product in this day and age, glad when someone can kick the habit if they have been smoking most of their life.

And Happy Fathers Day to all the fathers out there in AFF land.

Happy Fathers Day to all the dads, especially those that wont get the chance to see their off-spring today.

Re: Who says share markets ALWAYS make money over long time periods?

Jarryd Hayne made the cut with SF 49ers. Well done.

I watched a little of his action online. When he sent te fellow from the Chargers flying one of the commentators said-OMG Haynes must have had his vegemite this morning.
If that's what it can do I must start eating it again.

I think we're going to hear a bit of attempted humour and Aussie (emphasis on the 'S' sound when saying Aussie) slang from the US commentators.

God am I over this person. Who cares if he wants to play American football. Good luck to him but spare us the saturation news coverage please.

This was breaking news on ABC News Radio today and it went on and on...

Each to their own ... I've been following NFL for 35 years from back in the days of the delayed SBS coverage with Don Lane (one year ch9 did it with Eddie Mcguire presenting).

FWIW I reckon it is being overhyped at the moment - unless he does something really really good he will just be a kick returner and 3rd string running back; way down the list for highlighting jn the normal run of things.

Re: Who says share markets ALWAYS make money over long time periods?

To think he will probably make more as a 3rd stringer and special team NFL player then as a NRL champion.
Good on him. One percent of players make it from high school gridiron to college gridiron and then one percent make it from college to the NFL.

Re: Who says share markets ALWAYS make money over long time periods?

Another who watched Don Lane presenting the NFL and has continued watching.
Unfortunately our son lived in Philly for 2 years so I became an Eagles fan.One day.......

Re: Who says share markets ALWAYS make money over long time periods?

We went along to one of Don Lane's presentation of the Super Bowl one year. (my husband used to referee the Sydney competition)
We have shares in the Green Bay Packers, so the only time I will be watching Jarryd is when he plays against my Pack.

Fear not. Now he has made the cut coverage will wind back a bit, build up again when he plays his first few 'real' games, then remain an occasional thing in the sports pages. :)

A significant reason that it is newsworthy. So hard to change codes (not sure re Rugby Union to League and vice versa though) - look at Folau and Hunt turning to Aussie rules. One attempt an outright failure (Folau), the other just a bit more successful (Hunt).

When I was in Seattle a couple of years ago, my mate there who is from Wisconsin is a mad-keen Cheesehead. The Packers were in town facing up to the Seahawks, so we went along. Typical nutso LOTFAP football stuff.

Packers were just in front with a moment to spare; Seahawks loft the ball in to a huge pack on the line; goes to video; agonising pause later and the Seahawks took it... Not good!

My kitchen bench/breakfast bar is 3.6 meters long, when I came back home they had just started on their 4th row of empty bottles standing side by side along the length of the bench (mix of beer & wine bottles) they thought it was funny.
That's extremely funny and I have done something similar in the past. ;)
