The totally off-topic thread

cove, I was aware of how and when you get shingles - my question is: do I have to wait until I'm 50 to have the shot? Or would the fact that I had chicken pox so late in life make me less likely to get shingles anyway? Argh too many questions, I need an infectious disease specialist.

Suze2000 I am not able to answer those questions that need to be put to your medical practitioner. Don't try Dr Google.
I still have a chicken pox scar so I knew I could consider getting that shingles shot.

Sister was rattling off a few details for me to keep in mind when searching for flights on her next trip in Feb. She only has 90k AA and 110k VA points, so it's a competition between paying cash, burning miles, or a combination of both (in multiple tickets).

She's thinking of inviting her boyfriend to go along. She said, "Yeah, since I'm travelling with someone, should make cattle class a bit easier. That said, it's 9-11 hours between Japan or North Asia to America, so Business might be nice. If there's a good deal, I don't mind going in Business and [boyfriend] can sit in Economy. ;)"

:) Didn't know whether to laugh or not....

Mates rates?? :p;)

In a couple weeks?

The idea is that the new place pays for the old place? Of course that never works in practice.

I am away for a few weeks, but once I am back sounds good.

On board qf61 BNE-NRT now, 25% load is my guess.

About to go QF24, Bangkok - Sydney, chockers, so as usual my requested upgrade didn't go through, I've never been given one, guess I'm just unlucky :)
I know I shouldn't be surprised, I'm sure QF just use it as a carrot as a way to pay extra and not go for the cheaper redi deals all the time.
No point(!) in collecting QFF points anymore imo, I really don't want to buy toasters. With the change to Woolies rewards it may be time to re-evaluate my loyalty to QF, as they obviously don't think mine is worth having. It might be time to consider my options and not automatically go OW. Best fare of the day will be the future for me.
Also I originally had 24K in a refurbished plane, of course this has been substituted for the older model.
Rant over.

Maybe there should be a separate "get it of your chest" thread :)

Having read a piece in the AFR the other week I say Fair enough. Between joining parliament in 1994 his mortgage of $350000 on his own home was double 16 years later in 2000. All this on a salary of at least $200000 per year, $300000 as a minister with Howard plus all that travel allowance, and a wife also earning good money. He clearly needs all the money he can get if he can't pay off such a small mortgage.
