Winter's coming late in NY. Xmas Day is forecast to be 19 degrees C.

16 today in London, so going to be warm here too!

That being said..... I'll be in India which looks like it'll be a nice 24+ degrees where I'll be on Christmas Day! :)

Outer western Sydney is still here. Slept through most of the storms.

This is a floodway near local sportsground that flows into the Nepean River.

When I was a kid, it used to be a concrete stormwater drain. It's now open grassed banks. If it is dry, you can walk there.

Got some good news about my train driver shoulder & low grade hamstring strain (while ice skating) from my new physio.

Later, I heard the news of a person v train which ended up being mother & child v train. Mother died
at the scene, child in critical condition. Driver will have a tougher time than usual.

Hug your loved ones but don't let a random drunk random passenger hug you (as one who thought tonight was Xmas Eve tried to).

Sydney and Brisbane are two major cities that can have the most amazing and frightening storms/mini cyclones. When the weather bureau radar has red and black in the picture you would be wise to take shelter.
One of our friends who is visiting Sydney went to a movie theatre and so she missed the action yesterday.

Thank you blackcat20 and whatmeworry. I heard ice too helps. Maybe whiskey and ice together will be good after work, followed by warm salty water gargles at bedtime.

Having a quick squizz at a French competency test... and I have no idea where to start!

A generic picture of a male and female looking rather bored or exhausted, sitting against one another but facing the other way. The text says: "Pascal and Violette are in trouble. Questions: 1) Do you think that Pascal and Violette can be reconciled? 2) What are the probabilities that their problems can be solved? 3) What doubts and certainties do you have over the stability of their relationship?"

At least 15 lines of prose are expected collectively for all 3 questions. But there's absolutely no other context given. How would you start to answer this?

Good grief why the confusion - just answer 4. Siamese / Conjoined Twins - cut and paste from Wikipedia and you'll bi in the pub enjoying a frothy whilst all other dudes sittin their scratchin their heads!

Lucky it wasn't the movie theatres at Bondi Westfield - that was exactly where the roof came off and all the movie goers were evacuated!

Reminds me of the story, probably apocryphal, that after Cyclone Tracey hit Darwin on Christmas Day, no-one in the outside world noticed (or realised) for 'a long time' because no-one was monitoring comms properly (being Christmas Day) and in those days, who thought Darwin being off the air was unusual?

Strangely enough - the only houses left standing were made totally out of wood by a NZ company "Lockwood". The name said it all - the wood was interlocked and flexed with the winds - even their roofs stayed on. I saw some amazing photos of them a few years later - one had another house's tin roof on top of theirs!

Rains will keep water restrictions off the radar for Sydney

We're about 1.2 km from the coast and our back-yard rain gauge got 104mm yesterday. The horizontal rain was different. This is the first real rain we've had at our place since September.

Hail stones were between marble size and just a touch smaller than a golf ball, and yes they bounced off our garage's tin roof just about as high as a golf ball would.

Best of all - no damage luckily. As the crow flies we're about 7km from Kurnell.

Daughter said she was in charge of Christmas tree this year.......
Came home tonight after our family santa photo to find this.....

As long as you are heading south you should be ok. Or very, very north. :)

The heat is making it awful in Adelaide. Three days so far of 40+ and two more to come. A brief respite of 30 then back to 39 on Christmas Eve. Really dont need this right now.
